Following an audio call with my GP I am now off the statins (Atorvastatin) for a month. Hopefully no more leg pains. Follow up to see how to go forward. Fingers crossed 🤞

Let's hope that makes a difference. I thought the discussion around your problem was quite reasoned and thoughtful. Please pop back in to keep us posted!

As far as statins are concerned there are many different points of view on their true value and impact varying from, on one hand, informed medical opinion, to the hysterical on the other. As far as I am concerned with naturally very high cholesterol and now heart disease most likely as a result, statins have probably extended my life, and its a no-brainer for me to continue taking them although fortunately I seem to suffer no side effects. However its always good to be able to drop a long term medication with the support of your GP even if it's only for a trial, especially for those of us on several different medications often for different conditions. So in your case there are well known alternatives to taking statins to reduce your cholesterol level of which I am sure you are well aware, so by perhaps making a few more life style changes you can probably achieve an acceptable level and hopefully the result you are looking for.

Yes have covered all the bases. As far as lifestyle changes since my unexpected HA and subsequent bypass with the help of the rehab team we looked at my lifestyle. Non smoker. Average weight (78kg) five foot eight and a half. Working in Asia for six years had a good diet of fresh fish. Vegetables by the barrow load. Alcohol consumption well below recommended safe level. Yearly full medical for insurance. Played a lot of golf. Leisurely cycling and lots of walks. Continued this lifestyle as much as possible. So really without going into lockdown very happy with lifestyle and has never been mentioned as a concern by GP. My HA happened out of the blue no warning signs. No high blood pressure. No high cholesterol. No stress worries. Not on any medication. Just unlucky
