Feeling worse on Entresto.

Hi All.

Be grateful for any advice.

I am an almost 74 year old Male.

My diagnosis is Permanent AF with both Tachycardia & Bradycardia.

Developed HF over the past 18 months.

Ejection Fraction recently dropped from 45% to 35%

Waiting for AV node ablation.

I saw my HF cardiologist recently and he swapped my Candesartan for Entresto.

At my previous appointment he added Dapoflox, both of these changes are designed to help with my breathlessness, prior to AV node ablation.

However, after initial difficulties with tolerating Dapoflox this has settled.

I am now suffering with, what I think are side effects from Entresto, in particular, it has bought on a severe gout attack in my feet and ankles.

Bottom line, my breathlessness seems to be worse and now, because of this gout, I cannot walk anywhere at all.

This is so debilitating.

Can anyone shed any light on this and give me a reason to be cheerful.

Dear Barnetfc1

The reasons to be cheerful is that you are here to write your post to us and we are glad that you have done.

It could well be that the Entresto has the side effects that you are suffering, lets face it when you read the leaflet that comes with them { more like a bible re-write} you can begin to understand that it is a powerful drug.

You should inform your Dr what you are suffering as the gout needs attention, your pharmacist maybe able to shed some light on the side effects as well.

I was moved onto this drug a little while ago and I am pleased to say that other than a sort time of being light headed I got away lightly with the side effects.

Short answer is contact your DR and let him get you back on your feet again before the next stage of your treatment.

You are important and you are not alone, we are here for you, I hope that is a good reason to be cheerful { 1- 2- 3 ! }

Take care and please let us know the outcome.

I have suffered from Gout whilst taking blood thinners Edoxaban and Apixaban , but was OK on warfarin …..I do believe there is a link with the new style blood thinners , and this forum is so useful in collating …drug reactions but it’s so important to yellow card adverse reactions .

All possible side effects from medication, especially where they are debilitating, should be discussed first with your GP. That's what they are there for. And if you think it serious enough don't accept a routine appointment if it is offered to you, you need have an 'urgent' appointment.

Thank You All for your comments.

I have spent the last 3 days with Ice packs on my affected joints.

Sleeping in bed is a bit more difficult, as just trying to find a position that doesn’t cause pain is almost impossible.

Still waiting for a call back from both the GP

and Heart Team.
