Fantastic that Roger is home and that side of the worrying is now over.
This next stage will bring its own set of questions and we will try to answer as best we can.
The sleeping will be a problem for a little while, the feelings are completely normal and most of us feel them after such an ordeal. Rogers sleep pattern will be all over place and as he heals it will slowly return to normal.
As for the heart beats his mind will now be tuned into his heart, that is all he will be thinking about and trying to get comfortable to grab at any sleep that he can, the arterial Fibulation and pure anxiety is adding to your worries.
The breathing exercises are important as is moving about, no lifting weight and keeping the movement to the sternum at a minimum. All of this will become a pattern and the time will fly.
You will be assigned a heart nurse that can help you get through all this.
Lesley you both have had an incredible experience and that will take time to settle down, there are all sorts of different advice that you will be given on here on how to sleep, what sort of pillows etc etc.
But the main thing to remember is that you are not alone, we are just a bit further on the journey than you two, you soon will be saying the same to a new member on here {thats how it works}
Thanks so much for replying we thought obviously wrongly that the tablets would stop the AF thing from happening we have not heard about a heart nurse but there is a fone number for advice from a rehabilitation team at southampton Of course we now come under Bournemouth so🤷♀️ Thanks again Lesley & Roger
I remember the first few nights my fiancé was home very well - I was terrified to suddenly be on my own with him it all seemed so quick!
He slept in a recliner chair in our lounge and I slept on the sofa next to him, as I was too nervous to sleep in another room. He didn’t even attempt to “lie down” for several weeks and spent every night in the recliner, gradually getting more reclined lol.
He was also discharged on amiodrone and was on it for a further few months.
I can’t remember if he continued to have AFib at home to be honest, but if you have any concerns definitely contact the cardiologist at Bournemouth or Southampton (or your GP/A&E as appropriate.) I’m sure they will be more then happy to advise.
Thanks gonna see how he goes tonight & decide whether to ring some body tomorrow whats strange its always at night even in hospital the night before discharge it happened
