Thank you
Check with the cruise line first. I cruise with Cunard and they have some very specific insurance requirements, for example a very high repatriation limit. I believe P&O cruises have a similar requirement (not surprising, as they're both owned by the same company).
I've heard similar stories from other cruise lines, and if you don't meet their insurance specifications you'll be refused boarding.
Thank you I will check first
Hi just home from a cruise with P& O. I got insurance with StaySure after having a heart attack. It's not cheap but very happy with the cover given including Covid. Interestingly although the cruise company stress how important it is to have travel insurance, neither on this cruise nor an earlier one were we asked to show our documents! However, it is so important to have it and be upfront with your insurance company about all illnesses you have and had in the past
Previous posts here have said travel insurance companies dislike the US/Caribbean and cruises. There's a post somewhere about a lady who had to be airlifted off a boat and subsequently needed stents. She was uninsured and got a .massive bill!
I used Saga, cheapest and best deal for my MVA and comorbidities. Whichever insurance you use make sure it specifically covers cruises.
My travel, insurance with my bank automatically covers Worldwide inc USA and Caribbean and cruises too. The only extra charges I pay are because my wife and I are both over 70 and I had 2 stents fitted over 18 months ago.
Thank you.
