Hello all,

I had my HA and stent fitted in July 2021. 47yr old and fit and healthy, so was a bit of a surprise! All was going well then in November i started to feel unwell....GP put it down to extreme fatigue...Ive not been the same since, getting tired easily, struggling to eat....any one else had similar?

Hi didntexpectthat. Just wondered if you were prescribed Bisoprolol and what dose you are on? About 6 months or so after my heart attack and 2 stents I was recovering well, but felt so tired. After reading about it I wondered if it was the bisoprolol and asked my advanced nurse practitioner if I could try reducing it. After speaking to the consultant she agreed to halve my dose and I noticed a big improvement.Strangely I have been very tired again lately and plan to ask my GP.If it would be possible to try reducing the dose again. Not sure if this helps, but hope you can sort something out. Best wishes x

Hi Nettekin, thanks for the reply. I was on Bisoprolol, but stopped it after discussions with my GP. I got on a lot better after, but im still nowhere near where id like to be, or was the four months post HA.

Dear didnt

Haven’t got any answers for you, but my op early May went very well and my recovery was good until late August when the fatigue got its grip on me.

The fatigue is just as described with long covid. And it is the same as stroke fatigue, which I now don’t know if it’s heart related or stroke related.

Maybe it’s the medication, maybe not.

I do take just 1.5 bisoprolol.

Best wishes

Have you had Bloods done recently?

I suffered similarly with fatigue/lethargy, mine was due to a deficiency of Folate (Vit B) caused by Omeprazole.

Even if not on a PPI (they can cause malabsorption of Vit B in some people) it may be worth getting getting checked.

Hi Sheldon c. Interesting thought. Is vit B routinely tested in annual heart check, or would you have to request it seperately? Sorry to hijack post!

I am pretty sure that they are not part of the 'routine' bloods, I asked specifically about Vit B because I had read about the malabsorption.

Within a couple of days of being prescribed Folic I was ready to party.

Hi SheldonC..Thanks for the reply....i have had a FBC as they thought i may be anaemic. Everything was fine. You should be able to tell from this if a B12/ folate is required (depending on MCV)..it may be worth investigation though...thanks!
