So I going about my normal business and had just turned the TV on to get a 10am update on the news. I felt as though I needed to clear my throat which I do often, so I gave a loud deep cough......and BAM, as I coughed I felt my chest go really tight and a bad shooting pain across the top of my chest....my heart gave a massive jump and seemed to stop for a few seconds before another bang and my heart racing to about 140bpm...WTF ! I also went a little dizzy but the whole episode only lasted about 20 seconds.....I havn't it before or since. I am taking beta blockers, aspirin and statins for mild mitral regurgitation and had extensive tests over the past few years all of which have come back normal.......it wasn't a nice experience, but at least Ime still here. Thanks...

I would suggest you ring 111 or your GP to discuss it. Things can change over time....

My advice to you is get yourself down to A&E asap. You may have had a heart attack of some sort. They will be able to run simple tests to establish whether you have or not. Better safe than sorry. And don't even think about calling your GP

I would get it checked out. I have cardiac arrhythmia and have these events where my heart seems to pause then a big thud and things revert to normal. Not saying yours has an arrhythmia cause, I am not a medic and have no medical knowledge other than that acquired over the years on my own condition so am only sharing my ongoing experience. It is very unnerving I find.

Get checked out to find the actual cause in your case, worth doing sooner rather than later to clarify the situation for you.

I had the odd beating and thudding all yesterday afternoon but i felt ok apart from this and had feeling right into my throat. I took an extra Ivabradine 2.5mg and it has calmed itself down now
