Is an asymptomatic pulse rate of 43 when sleeping too low? I’m on bisoprolol 3.75 twice a day.

Need to be on this dose of bisoprolol post heart attack/stent end of July 21. Followed by AFib and cardio version. Now paf and reduced ejection fraction.

Heart rate responds well with me moving and I go to cardiac gym, swim and do Pilates with good response to heart rate. Do have some breathlessness on exercise and walking upstairs but that’s improving well. Heart rate when exercising approx 80-115 with good recovery afterwards.

Short answer, no it's fine, as long as you are asymptomatic.

That's a question for your cardiologist/ medical team, what may be ok for one person may not be ok for the next person. My husband's HR was dipping into the 40's at rest & he was asymptomatic. He has heart failure with reduced EF & his HF was considered to be mild at the time, his cardiologist wasn't happy about the low HR at all & Papworth had to update his ICD to pace him at 50.

Hi, It doesn’t look like something I’d be concerned about , but I’d it’s worrying you then it’s worth getting it checked out . Nina

Mine is around 42 while sleeping. I've been told by my cardiologist that it's absolutely fine.

Mine too occasionally has been below 40 when sleeping. Otherwise it's about 43.

I have tachycardia and from what I’ve read and been told having a low heart rate and being asymptomatic is absolutely fine, a high heart rate is more of a concern or low if it makes you feel dizzy or faint. Worth a run past your GP or cardiologist but they are unlikely to be concerned.

When mine was 33 bpm in the night Cardiologist said he thought I maybe a tad over Beta Blocked !! I was on 10mg at the time, reduced now to 7.5 mg. Never had another test so don't know if it has risen or not !!. I was having pauses of 3 seconds at the time so maybe that was was a concern as well. Current daytime is between 43 and 65.

Hi - I take Bisopralol 1.25mg and my HR drops very low during sleep. 29 has been lowest; Cardiologist commented she was not at all concerned about low figures whilst sleeping. Had surgery recently and Anaesthetist made virtually same comment!

It is no surprise that people get so confused about Bisoporol and low heart rate but when everyone is different this is likely the reason. I was put in Bisoporol after an aFib diagnosis and 2.5mg a day. Initially it appeared to calm things right down and I actually felt very calm (noticeably calm!!). Then the aFib came back but i had noticed my heart rate was low 40’s all the time and just felt pretty awful- zero energy. Bisoporol reduced to 1.25mg but no real change to heart rate. Post a heart attack hospital told me clearly that I shouldn’t be on Bisoporol and took me off it immediately. I now feel great (though sure this is due to the ballooning when I had an angiogram rather than coming off the Bisoporol ) but my heart rate is now high 50’s into the 60’s and the aFib whilst it is still there is not as bad as it was before coming off the Bisoporol….
