Went for my scan today

Well I took the ivabradine 2x5mg and off I went for a ct cardiac angiogram…. I swear I tried to stay very calm , drank only water and my heartbeat was higher than it usually is so the technician did a heart scan but couldn’t do the full works …….and I’ve got a stinking headache which I thought my be a smal side effect from the extra tablets 🤷🏻‍♀️

But at least I’ve had the heart scan done so that’s a plus just wondered if anyone else had this happen and what happens next ?

Hope you are all having a good day 😊

Ps added an hour after getting home , my heart rate is well down I think he tablets needed more time to work so I shall know better next time 🤔

Dear Hazel1010

Well done in getting through your test, in anyones mind they are not the best experience and even worse for anyone with worry or anxiety.

Depending on your weight { to much of a gentleman to ask } your tablets should have kicked in by the time you were on the bed.

As to what happens next, that seems to vary from hospital to hospital.

Mine was then and there, had the test and a member of the cardiology team told me about my next stage.

Others come away and have to wait for the results via there Drs or Cardiology dept.

But big well done to you and I hope that your results are good.

Take care.

I'm not too much of a lady to share my weight 😂😂 just under 13 and going down 👍 yeah I took the tablets and thought I’d get called at my appointment time which would have been 2 hours but I was called early, I tried to explain but I think they thought I was slightly barmy 😂😂 had I have sat in he waiting room longer I think I would have been ok for the full test but at least I had part of it done and I shall know better next time 😊

Early ? Wow now that is rare, lol , but still part is done and like you say next time { which I think will be soon } you know the room, and what to expect.

Your weight is a secret that I shall keep { well done for it going down } and if you need a hand to hold then I have two spare on a cheap rental.

Your humour will get you through

Hello :-)

Would it not be great if we could have a mock run at these scans and things we have to have done as our brains get in such a mess with the fear of the unknown :-)

I had to have scans and other things done and I was such a mess sometimes I even screamed out having them done not that it hurt but I was so afraid

So you did really well and should feel proud , at least you did not scream out like me :-)

If you go back again you will be fine as now you know it is nothing to be feared

Be kind to yourself now the rest of the day and remind yourself you did well :-) x

So agree with you about having a test run. I had a nuclear stress test a couple of weeks ago where you have to walk on a treadmill to raise the heartbeat. I got so worked up about it my heart rate was half way to the target level before I'd even stepped on the thing. Awaiting results from my cardiologist but not sure whether I made a complete mess of it. Would know better for a second go.

I actually do believe a test run for so many would help :-)I would have been just the same as you :-)

If you do not get the results you want say you thought it was just a practice run could you have another go :-D

Let us know how you got on , you may have done a lot better than you think , I hope so :-) x

I am in the “anxious gang” too but for my two angiograms I don’t remember heart rate being an issue, mind you I was offered a sedative which I naturally accepted! It was however when I had an “ordinary” cardiac CT scan as I suppose the pictures obtained are separate frozen images. The doctor said it had to be below 60 bpm which seemed a bit low to me! Anyway they just gave me some more beta blocker intravenously. I wonder what part couldn’t be done in your case. Perhaps another scan won’t be necessary but in any case you know what to expect and won’t be so uptight next time. From the group you will know you are not alone in feeling like that! Well done for getting through it so far and trust you will have a successful outcome in the end!

Hello, yeah I can’t have beta blockers because of asthma but we shall see what happens with the scan I actually had , shame though that it went under the 60 bpm and I offered to go back but they wouldn’t do it but hey ho we shall get there 😊
