I know that a lot is written about travel insurance, but I was wondering if anyone could give me a little advice. I've been fortunate enough to have visited over 50 countries so, in many ways, I've already filled my boots. However, I have always travelled on a shoestring and the thought of paying more for insurance than the cost of my trip is a non-starter. So, my questions. 1. What exactly do I have to declare? I had a thoracic aneurysm repaired and my aortic valve replaced 18 months ago. The job is done now and, so long as I remember to take my Warfarin, I don't see any ongoing health risk. 2. If I restrict my travel to Europe now will my GHIC card give me all the cover I need? I know it won't cover things like repatriation but if I drop dead they can flush me down the loo for all I care. 3. In many countries insurance is mandatory at the moment because of Covid. I've seen travel policies that exclude pre-existing conditions. Are these worth considering as I'm more worried about missing a flight than an exploding heart?
