My partner has been on a cocktail of drugs since his HA. He's just come downstairs and said ' I've just realised why I feel so much better-I've forgotten to take my tablets!'

The ideal situation would be for there to be no difference in the way that he feels, with or without medication. Evidently one or more of the drugs he is on does not suit him. I had to work with the Pharmacist at my GP practice and the Clinical Pathologist at the local hospital to get my cocktail right. Along the way, I found out I could not tolerate many of the drugs that were prescribed, but now all is well. Hopefully the same can be achieved for your husband. 😀

How wonderful to have such a good medical crew to work with! Terrific you found a combo that works and doesn’t make you feel lousy. ❤️

It required persistence. I firmly believe medication is meant to make or keep you well, not create additional issues. Quality of life is important.

He's on the cheapest NHS drugs which need to be reviewed but apathy has taken over.

If your GP practice has a Pharmacist, see if you can get him an appointment with him / her. Encourage him to keep positive. It is so important. Life can be better! 😀

He's a stubborn Yorkshire man. Think the carlsberg keeps him going.!

There are several drugs which can certainly make you feel unwell. In addition, if your husband was on any other sort of medication, there may be some interaction with the heart meds.

As far as the heart meds are concerned, there is a pretty much standard NICE set of medication given after a heart attack. It may vary a bit, depending on the cardiologist and his/her perception of the patient's condition.

For instance Atorvastatin at 80mg caused me problems as did Bisoprolol.

In some cases, it might be possible to change the medication for a different one which your husband can tolerate more

Also after some time (typically a year) some of the drugs might be stopped/reduced depending on your husband's progress. That happened to me. The cardiologist took me off Bisoprolol after a year or so. It was making me feel like a zombie.

Remember I'm not a doctor, so the cardiologist is the man

Hope your partner enjoyed his brief respite!! Funnily enough, I read your post while checking emails as a break from making a list of all my medications. It's a lengthy process, including some for heart, lungs, bones, gut - all prescribed by different specialists 🙄 Plus the vitamins not prescribed, but advised. The list-making was triggered by packing to go away for a few days, and realising that all the meds took up as much space as my clothes! Can't help feeling that there must be some conflicts in there, so hoping to get appt with pharmacist to discuss.

Packing for a trip does get complicated doesn’t it! I end up checking my pill boxes and lists multiple times, drives me buggy! Enjoy your trip once all that sorting out is done,

Oh, I’ve had that feeling too on occasion. Wish there were some magic pills that could fix out symptoms and not make us feel tired.

I ended up just taking aspirin and clopidogrel for one year after my HA not statins though I did try bisoprolol - knew from research and after witnessing.my mother's experience on statins I def did not want those, bisoprolol made me feel ill. After one year I have only stayed on Clopidogral in preference to aspirin. 2 years now and am well. Has anyone seen the initial trial data from Pzr? Would make you think.

I have one golden rule with my medication. If the list of possible side effects says 'May affect your libido', I refuse to take them. Life has got to be worth living.
