Just thought i'd write this bit - just waiting for Sony & Cher to play on the radio and i will be living the nightmare
Can't go out any where for a walk because all my ususal locations are waterlogged, the nearest suitable concreted options will result in a fine of Suffolk Constabulary as per Covid rules and my ability to walk still doesn't get me from the car park to the town centre were I to get Mrs B to drive me up town! The sky is grey an the rain clearly is waiting for me to appear to dump on me...
So, another day of watching Groundhog Day on TV, playing a few games on a computer or refreshing my abilities to create a web site or a databse (i enjoy such activities).
On a positive note, i did watch The Dig on Netflix last night. The Sutton Hoo burial site is something i grew up with and was a place i had to visit ona school trip (mandatory in my school years along with Colchester Castle) - didnt half take me back to the more innocent days of my youth (no one said yoof when i was a child )
i don;t mind the snow and ice, or the cold, they make the gorund hard and i can walk on that. Sadly, my 2 parks of choice bpth turn to quagmires after any reasonable amount of rain 1 is 'built' on mashland and the other where water 'pools' from higher ground. We each have our cross to bare
Lockdown combined with winter is playing havoc with all of us, I think. As a Heartie with multiple heart conditions I normally tend to be somewhat reclusive but being forced to stay home+really having not a lot to look forward to has become the quintessential 'cabin fever' experience. Finding the motivation to keep moving for heart health is especially not easy and becoming more difficult by the day.
LOL - but it's not really funny, even my Coleen Nolan dancercise DVDs are losing their motivational appeal the longer we're all under lockdown restrictions. Before lockdown I was getting to the promenade along the seafront at least twice a week for a very good walking work-out on level pavements but now it is a treat I've given up looking forward to any time in the foreseeable future.
All in, calling it Groundhog Day - Again! seems appropriate.
Must agree, trying to motivate myself to get moving is getting harder! Went to put the recycling in the bins just before and it’s still very slippery underfoot!
Have just started reading the Richard Osman book The Thursday Murder Club so think it’s an afternoon of settling down with a cup of coffee and my book😉
Had a FaceTime with Craig yesterday Perth(Australia) as gone into lockdown they haven’t been in lockdown since the beginning of the Summer last year. Lily is due to fly to Canberra Thursday to start University seems she will be escorted from the plane into quarantine at the University! He says she is very nervous about it all so are her parents! Her Mum was going to fly with her to settle her in but now can’t go, she as altered her flight to go the weekend of 1st March Lily’s 18th they haven’t told her just in case they are still in lockdown!
I am not far away, just over the Essex border near Constable country. It was 3c at sunrise and i have made my expedition to keep walking along my road to the village. No ice, no snow, and the wind has dropped. So just a fraction warmer makes a huge difference. I made my walk just a bit further today. Its a little over one mile round trip. Now i am so tired i could cry. So you should be out over the next week or two. We might even get some sunshine.
So lucky to live in this part of England. The climate is kind.
Ooh, north Essex - so many lovely places to walk. My usual walk is Felixstowe Landgaurd Reserve/ Viewing Area or Prom. Option 2 would be Shotley - but of course, each comes with a fine. Just been talking to Community Rehab and appears they can't even persuade PC Bobby to allow an occasional trip. No 'flexing of the rules' Better weather and, as you say, i'm off to the parks where i can enjoy walks in ever increasing distances from one bench to th enext. But Essex - i like to do Frinton or Holland on Sea - my weakness is seaside walks All the best for a drier February.
Its nice to mull over what might be, later this year or perhaps next year. I really cant walk more than a mile, so I have all that time to wake up my joints.
Best wishes
Colin
One of those rare occasions where a plane will be considered as spacious
Different rules in Wales. Exercise is permitted locally so that there are a steady stream of walkers, runners and weekend bikers wandering around. I live at the bottom of the Rhonnda valley and there are old tramways and railway tracks that have been tarmacked over and turned into community paths facing north, south, east and west..My wife used to think I was bonkers going out in the wind and the rain with a few of my neighbours. When covid came the mixing had to stop. However "Hello wall" struck and suddenly getting out in the damp and the cold didn't seem so bad after all.
Lots of good quality , waterproof walking gear suddenly appeared, along with warm foundation gear and waterproof walking shoes and walking poles for stability.
Nowadays we examine the METEO weather App every day looking for a couple of hours slot to get into, and get into layers of gear . Today was a 3 layer day. last week had quite a few 5 or 6 layer days with hats and heavy duty gloves. Tumble driers are wonderful devices.
Today we saw our first daffodils dancing in the breeze and the local golf club was mowing some of the greens. Summer is coming..
I miss getting out in the poor weather - some great photography to had in such situations... I envy you your ability to get out - interesting how a 'United' Kingdom is operating in such a 'DisUnited' manner...
