I’ve been taking Atorvastatin 40 mg for 3 weeks at night. I started Clopidogrel this week in the morning. I also take Sertraline long term. Last few night I’m been experiencing waking with fast heart rate, hunger pains and feelings of anxiousness - anyone else experienced these as side effects my Gp is wanting me to increase At to 60mg next week… which I’m now nervous about

Hello and welcome to the forum!
Unfortunately you have said very little about yourself. The fact he has put you on an antiplatelet to prevent clots asnd a statin suggests high cholesterol/narrowed arteries. Sertaline is known to cause sleep problems in some people. You really need to talk to your GP about this. And after the weekend you could ring the BHF nurses for a chat about your heart condition and medication.
I believe Sertraline increases the effect of Clopidogrel. When I was put on Clopidogrel after a heart attack, They also prescribed Lansoprazole which reduces the amount of stomach acid. Could be part of your problem?. I also wake with fast heart rate and I take clopidogrel
Hi Papa_is Cool
I also have gone down this path with Atorvastatin and Clopidogrel. In short I determined I was allergic to Atorvastatin and Eliquis. I told my cardiologist I was getting sicker as time went on, his comment was you'll get used to them. I ended up in Emergency and almost died from allergic reaction to Eliquis. I found a different cardiologist that took over my case.
He determined my back and leg pain, anxiety, sleeplessness was a reaction to Atorvastatin. He took me off Clopidogrel after 6 months and put me on Xarelto to prevent blood clots. If you go up on Atorvastatin and your symptoms get worse please don't wait to get help. I had to fight for my life for a couple days in the Hospital because my Doctor wouldn't listen to my concerns.
I Wish You All the Best!

Papa, not to worry about Atorvastatin which is statin and statins are known to cause muscle aches as side effects. Clopidogrel reduces platelet adhesiveness and works in line in same line as anticoagulants and clearly not responsible for side effects. Sertraline is a safe anti-depressant. Yes I agree talk to your GP about it.
