If you stop taking statins the risk increase of dying is long term, whereas stopping one or both of the ACE inhibitor and blood thinner drugs could be significant in the short term. However each of the drugs have been prescribed for you for a reason specific to your health issues, and so if you have concerns about these drugs you need to discuss them with the prescribing health professional such as your GP, but continue to take them until you have that discussion.

Thank you. I don’t have any concerns about the drugs….

As a doctor pointed out to me when I foolishly said that a heart attack wasn’t the worse thing she said ‘have you seen the side effects of a stroke?’

I think I am after something more permanent. Maybe I need to get my mental health checked…

I think you do as a matter of some urgency.Don't delay.

Our mental health suffers post OHS, it's a known issue, so worth seeing your GP.

In respect of a stroke, I had one within 36 hours of my OHS, and I can assure you, it is not something you ever want to experience. The effects of the stroke have almost negated the bene fits of the OHS.

Believe me, you do not ever want to experience a stroke!

I must confess that I “keep taking the tablets” because my biggest fear is a stroke.

I had a major stroke in November. I lost the ability to talk, walk and see properly at first. I was paralysed and it was the most terrifying thing I’ve experienced. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. Keep taking your meds and seek help asap

Thank you. One person gave me a number to call - I did - it certainly helped - as has the kindness of so many people today. 😘
