My ankles are starting to get swollen. They are worse when I am more active. Is it likely to be a side effect of the medication I am on (Nebivolol and Ivabradine) or from the mild scarring and dilation I have? I’m asking in here because my GPs tend to leave anything heart related to the cardiologists and I have no idea when I will be seeing cardiology again.

Swollen ankles
I had swollen ankles when I had fluid arounbd myheart and in my lungs .Cario. prescribed Spirolavtone and Furosomide .It did the trick.
Hi, That sounds difficult; I’m sorry.
I can’t say whet the cause is but it could be both side effects or caused by the dilation and scarring or both in combination 😕 .
I have leg swelling which doesn’t seem to be heart related & have bought compression socks recently which help a bit. They’re from Amazon though so not medical grade , etc. I don’t know if that’s an option for you.
It’s really hard being in a position like you are , not feeling able to ask the gp but having no idea of when cardiology will see you.
I hope you can contact the GP anyway who I’d hope will chase up cardiology if there’s any chance this is heart related.
Take care. N👍
Hello
The more active I am the more my ankles swell up at the end of the day and even if I am not very active they swell a little at the end of the day
I was told as long as they go down when you get up in a Morning that is a good sign
I had a xray and a scan yesterday no fluid on my lungs and heart ok so it is not always the case that you have something wrong but I am sorry your Doctors are so flippant and want to just pass it on
I would speak with my Doctors again tell them I am not happy and want some answers to what is the cause which remember could be no reason to worry about but still get it checked out x
Dear Hidders
I am not medically trained but I really don't like the sound of your Dr not answering your questions about your ankles swelling.
Its the first thing my Heart nurse checks when we met as it gives her, { along with the fluid retained around my heart } an indication to what strength water tablets to take.
Water retention of any type needs investigation, it may or may not mean much.
Please don’t suffer anymore and chase your surgery up, do you still have your connections to your Cardiology team? If you do ask them, at the very lest someone needs to rule out that this water is not on your chest as well.
Take care and please keep us informed.
Doctors! 🙄One says the more active you are the better, another says keep your feet elevated.
My doctor said "we all get marks round our ankles when we wear socks" then I showed her photos of both feet at their worst.
Without hesitation she prescribed Furosemide.
If you don't get the answers you require from your doctor, try talking to another one in the surgery, they all have their own opinions.
Hi all A quick update - I’ve now had an appointment come through for cardiology at the end of this month so I will keep an eye on the swelling. If it gets worse mention it to my GPs again, if not wait and see what cardiology say.
I got my heart issues along with a myriad of other things as post Covid symptoms and I think this is why the GPs are reluctant to get involved as they are putting everything down to that and hoping it’ll go away in time. Fine if you’re not the one struggling every day because of it. Thank you all for the advice.
