I was reading Geoff's post on his anniversary and I wondered who on the Forum can better this !!!
1982 Heart Attack aged 34 Nothing not even an Aspirin for Medication.
2015 My GP thought I seemed a little short of breath, ECG and referred to Cardiology.. Routine tests carried out all in the same afternoon ECG, Treadmill (Bruce Protocol ) Echocardiogram and then meet the Cardiologist who just said based on what I have seen you need an Angiogram. so Angiogram just a few weeks later then the Cardiologist said after the angiogram I think I can fix this with stents. A short while later he looked again at the angio and said you need bypass surgery.
After the bypass surgery the Surgeon just said nothing can be done with your RCA so I left it alone !!! forward to
2018 Cardiologist appointment again ECG he wasn't happy so another Angiogram, result was 2 stents into my already bypassed LAD.
In between all this I think I have had every diagnostic test available latest being a Stress MRI in January which seems OK no Ischemia which can be fixed !! He seems to be of the opinion my Breathless bouts are coming from my compromised Left Ventricle which is the reason for a diagnosis of Heart Failure currently 39% ef.
So I see the Cardiologist in April to see the way forward !!
I have told the Cardiologist who looks after HF should I need a CRT device I would rather it sooner than later. I meet the criteria for a device but Cardio is holding off. I have been on Entresto for quite a while and I am classed as at Maximum Medication !!My ef has gone down around 4 to 5 % since starting Entresto which is not supposed to be how it should go LOL.
I will be 75 in September and I feel really well except for breathlessness I eat what I want and drink a moderate amount of Alcohol ( 4x440 or 4x500ml cans a week )
I have had a great life and a good career, rephrase that I AM Having a great life.
I think the reason for feeling optimistic about the future is it's been 40 years since this started and I am still here !!
Don't get me wrong I have had set backs on the way, but I have always felt positive about the future. So it's POP the Pills everyday and hope for the best not a lot more you can do but that is just my way of coping LOL
