Hi all, went for stress cardiac mri today. Was all prepped up ready and they cancelled it as it was too risky because of my many allergies alongside my asthma. They said there’s other things they can do so now I’m no further ahead. However on the positive side at least I know that it can’t be too serious if they’re ok with leaving it
MRI Cancelled : Hi all, went for stress... - British Heart Fou...
MRI Cancelled
That rings a bell. At my MRI in July 2021, they were very concerned that I had asthma. I pointed out that I had never had a proper attack, just wheezing and had to persuade them to go ahead. Even then they insisted on finding a blue inhaler just in case. Everything went fine.
Hi ChoochSiesta, they said had it had been just the asthma or just the allergies they would have done the test but having both together was too much of a risk of having an adverse reaction. In their words the risks outweighed any benefits. So, not sure what next.
Hello BluebellI had a stress MRI about 10 days ago, I don't have asthma, but I can become short of breath due to Heart Failure. As soon as they started the Adenosine wow to say it took my breath away is an under statement. The MRI staff said they were going to take me out and I said no, let me try to get control so they stopped the extraction and it all calmed down and continued ( Ihadn't spent 15 minutes in the scanner to go to waste ) So they are very aware of whats goiing on. I think it must have been with the ECG monitoring !!.
I don't think I would want to have one if I had Asthma. They can do a CT rather than an MRI which I believe is not quite as good as the MRI !!!
Regards
Hi Prada47, wow what am experience you had. I can understand now why they thought it was too risky for me to have it. I hope you are ok now after it. I have already had a ct scan, I think what I can gather is they wanted to do this stress mri to check the blood flow to the heart. They have said there’s other tests they can do so I’m now waiting to hear from the cardiologist as to where we go from here.
