Hello
There are sleeping tablets that once you take put you into a sleep more or less within an hour or so
Then there are the type of medication you have been prescribed which are an antidepressant
These work a little different
First to get the full effect can take several weeks a few months even and while they are getting into your system you can get side effects and they can come in all forms
If you can stick with them usually these subside and you then start to feel the benefits but it does take a while
If it was not an antidepressant which does help you with sleep eventually that you wanted but more of a sleeping tablet to knock you out so to speak I would talk with your Doctor again about what they have prescribed x
Very interesting reply post BeKind28, the one that I used , to get me back in the flow of sleeping, knock me out!
But it worked for me
Take care
Hello
I have had those sort that have knocked me out before
Then I have woken feeling like I have a massive hangover the next day
Sometimes these medications can take some sorting out
I wished they were a lot more simple how they work x
Totally agree with you, on the whole I have been luckier than a lot of people { you included } and have had minimal side effects from the stupid amount of tablets that I’m on.
What side effects I’ve had have tended to balance themselves out.
Take care
Hello
I have always been someone that seems to react to meds
I know when Doctors read my notes they say you react to quite a lot here !
I think yes I know
I must be very sensitive but wished I wasn't
You are very lucky x
Tried Mirtazipine for a while and got some very weird symptoms as well. I reduced them eventually to a quarter of a tablet and they made me sleep like the dead. I also felt highly sedated all day after I eventually woke up. Took them for 2 weeks and stopped as too many side effects. I know they are an antidepressant and take a month or two to work properly but too strong for my liking. Be carefull stopping them if you have been on them for any lenght of time as you may need to taper off them for a few weeks. Talk to your GP as there are many different and gentler antidepressants out there. I do not take any but use a small dose of valium daily which I have been taking since 1977. Most GPs will not prescribe them nowadays but for me they work very well. Best of luck.
Hi, I was prescribed Mirtazapine for anxiety about 2 yrs ago, 15mg per day. The only side effect (for which they are well known for) is weight gain. I have to say they do nothing re helping me sleep. For that issue I take Zopiclone 7.5 mg. I was prescribed these in 2002 when my mother died and I have been on them ever since. The usual amount of time for taking them is 2 weeks! You could say I guess I’m addicted but I don’t care because without them I wouldn’t sleep a wink.
