Return to Work after OHS

Smudgebuttonjessie profile image

The day has finally come, no longer on alternative duties/light duties, I am now on a full time rota on the ambulance, I am so excited and looking forward to my shift tonight. I am under no illusion that it will be easy out there. When I was told i will never go back to work on the ambulances after my heart surgeries and the complications that followed it made me more determined to do it. I believed in myself and my employees did too. The support of this group has been tremendous in my recovery, thank you and Happy New Year to all our hearties xx

Hi, my bypass was 15 months ago but the grafts failed and wasn’t picked up for 11 weeks when i had one of the heart attacks in December, i had emergency surgery to repair the graft with stents then final surgery was in March 2020 where another stent was put in. Since i’ve made a good recovery x

Fantastic, hope you aren’t going to overdo it! What an amazing job you do, thank you from the bottom of my mended heart. Last March I fell trying to stop my fall, and crack out came head of my total hip replacement. Luckily phone on couch nearby, paramedics were here in 10 minutes. So kind, and first thing was a cannula and pain relief. They were just amazingly kind. I’d been on my way to the toilet, even sorted that out for me! One went to my bedroom and got all I needed for going into hospital! The journey there drove as carefully as poss, because of pain. The memory of that day not good, but helped by the likes of wonderful men and women like you Smudgebuttonjessie Thank you.

Thank you and your colleagues for all your hard work, above and beyond. What you have to put up with normally is hard enough without the current circumstances!! Appreciate your efforts!! Take care. Moni

Well done you, Fantastic. The perfect example of absolutely making the most of what OHS has given you AND displaying the importance of a really positive can do attitude.

How did it go? Hopefully as well or better than hoped. Remember to recharge on your days off.
