How long for results?

Hi there, was wondering if anyone has any idea how long it usually takes for ct scan results? Had ct on the 20th and all they said was it takes days to weeks for the results. Not helpful really but hoped some of you had more to add. Thanking you all in advance 😊

Dear Bluebell67

I think Christmas got in the way of your results. If you have been given a Heart team number it could be worth phoning.

But I would think with the Christmas period and the bank holidays there maybe a delay in someone being able to read your results to you.

Try not to worry it will happen

Take care

Hello, what's a heart team number. After my heart attack and discharge, I wasn't given anyone to make contact with. My 1st cardiac appt after discharge is a wait if 4 months

in reply toCoconut-girl

Hello to you , most of us are referred onto the heart failure team that has its own dedicated nurses complete with contact details.

I wonder if you contacted the cardio team that dealt with you { normally their secretary } they can supply you a contact number.

Hope this helps

I didn't know that. Will have a go and find out. Hate being left in limbo. Trying to get to speak to a Gp is near impossible. Bless you x

Hello again. Apparently here at Epsom Hospital, there isn't anyone.. I suppose I'll have to wait for my cardiac Rehab to start and ask them

So sorry that you were just dumped out here with no backup, just makes me so great full for the team I have, take care

Your very lucky indeed. I've been suffering with horrendous stomach pains. Thought it was diagnosed gastritis & Duodentitis after my HA but the Omeprazole would have sorted that out. I had a CT scan last Friday and results back a few days later to my GP who requested it. All normal thank the Lord but still no idea what this horrendous constant pain from Xmas day is all about? I'm stuck on paracetamol and codeine to take for the pain.. My life has practically stopped. My poor heart hasn't really had a look in. #sosad

Hello :-)

I agree with Christmas and New Year I would not be surprised if there is not a slight delay even though that does not help when you want that peace of mind knowing the results

My Mum used to have a saying no news is good news

I hope you get them soon and maybe if after the New Year you still have not got them you could give them a ring and ask :-)

Let us know how you get on :-) x

I forgot to mention, despite the letter I’m still no wiser as to what’s happening as don’t understand the terminology used and can’t get hold of the doctor for another week.

in reply toBluebell67

Hello :-)

O my goodness that is no use hardly , why they send these letters knowing we won't have any idea what they are on about I will never know

I have seen people do this before on the Community either copy their letter on to a post on here or type parts they do not understand

There are so many members full of knowledge on here that most of the time have a good idea what it means you could try that maybe ?

The most important does it say any follow up's needed , treatment etc that would be what I would be looking for

Or another thought if there is a telephone number on the letter it no doubt will be the Secretary I would phone that and tell them you cannot speak to anyone for a week and this is causing you anxiety could someone explain it to you in plain English ?

Let us know how you get on :-) x

Hi BeKind28, yes they want to do a stress cardiac MRI so not sure what it is they are looking for or what to expect

in reply toBluebell67

I am not an expert like most on here but I think that is to see how your heart performs as if you were exercising , it is quite a usual procedure I know it is hard not to worry I really do and of course we think the worse as that is mostly normal but they are just doing their job and making sure of everything which is good as if it was needed then they know how to treat us and what with

It is always the waiting which is the hard part but know now you are in good hands and they will sort anything that needs to be sorted and that is if they do find anything more

Keep coming on and talking when you need to and get all the support you need :-) x

Hi again. Been doing some research and apparently they inject you with a drug to stress the heart and then give you a MRI so until I’ve been for that I guess it’s a sit and wait strategy for me. 🙂

in reply toBluebell67

Yes that is what they do , I had it done It sounds more frightening than what it is to be honest

I am the worst with anything I really am and I did not even know I had anything in me nevermind just having to lay there while a machine came over me so please don't worry about it

Maybe after the New year if you have heard nothing you could just give them a call and ask how long is the waiting list to have it done and where are you on it

Hopefully it will be soon :-) x

Hello Bluebell The MRI will give a very clear picture of " Perfusion " which I believe in lay mans talk is the Blood Flow to all the Heart Muscle. I also believe that it gives an indication of what is or is not reversible with an intervention, should it be required !! Mine was followed by a of couple stents to a previously bypassed LAD. It improved my breathing for almost 3 years and now Cardiologist wants to see what's going on again as I am a little short of breath, on normal duties, like using the Vacuum Cleaner or Showering etc.

So I get a Stress MRI on the 12th January I have had a couple before and it is not to bad the thought of it is worse than the thing itself .

Wishing you well with Best Regards

Hi Prada47, thank you for your reply. Your explanation has helped. Now I understand why they want to do the next test and why it’s necessary. I’m scared I have to say as I lost both my mum and dad to heart attacks 😢

My experience is that a small "team" meet up to discuss the result. This takes time to arrange. I think it depends on what they are looking for. My CT scan for cancer took a couple of weeks. I find the secretary usually knows, or can find out, what's happening.
