Hi prada. I was put on this after atorvastatin sent my liver test results into a complete spin. I should add I had been on atorvastatin for a little over a year with no problems and then my liver took grave exception to the statins. I am currently taking Ezetimibe and just recently put on Colesevelam on the advice of my lipid consultant. No side effects from Ezetimibe as far as I know. Hope this helps. And you are keeping well x
Hi Prada, I was taking this in combination with Rosuvastatin (40mg) after stent placement in late August this year. This combination brought my total cholesterol down to 3 (from 6) and LDL to 1.3 in the space of 4- 6 weeks. Suffered no side effects from ezetimibe . After last review, Cardiologist happy for me to drop ezetimibe and continue with rosuvastaatin alone.
My husband was out on this three years ago as they found he had adverse reactions to “proper” statins. He has had no problems with it
I take clopidogrel, ezitemibe and Amlodipine following a mild stroke last year. I did not have high cholesterol at the time of the stroke. In fact it was well under control and had been for a couple of years. I was also mistakenly prescribed simvastatin although there was an alert in my medical notes due to major dangerous side effects previously. I do not take statins. Due to a general malaise at my GP surgery , idlitis, I have not had any follow up since the stroke and have just taken the tablets so I have no idea what my cholesterol is now. My blood pressure is still high and I have a high resting pulse. I struggle with mobility due to arthritis. I follow a plant based diet, do not smoke or drink alcohol, so am a bit in the dark about why I should be taking the ezitemibe. I did ask around, and a family member who is a pharmacist told me that etitemibe is effective, can be used with or without a statin but side effects need to be monitored.
Hi been on ezetimibe & atorvastatin 80mg combination for around a year now- no side effects. 1st blood result after showed a lower ldl so seems to work.
Prada47 I have been taking Ezitimebe for a couple of years with no ill effects.
Both hubby (heartie} and myself are on this along with rosuvastatin. Works very well with no effects.
I've been on 10mg with 80mg of Atorvastatin for 4 and a half years without any side effects. My total cholesterol went from 7.9 to 2.3
I was on Ezetimibe for two years when it was found that I could not tolerate Atorvastatin / Pravastatin / Simvastatin. After tests, pathology concluded that it was doing nothing for me. I had no side effects from it. I'm now happily on Rosuvastatin with no side effects which does work.
I had a target of LDL to be less than 1.8 after bypass surgery. I was put on atorvastatin last year. 20mg, then 40mg, then 80mg but at highest dose I didn't get LDL much below 3. So tried 40mg atorvastatin +10mg ezetimibe and at next test LDL was 1.7. Brilliant! Side effects were some initial indigestion and gas, but that has settled down.
