Cautiously Optimistic

I had in my book, a good appointment with my Cardiologist today. Since being diagnosed with Heart Failure in May, the cocktail of drugs seem to stabilised my condition, albeit I need an Echo to confirm the EF, but that can wait for now.

Its a vicious circle, but the HF, was predominantly caused by my Shunt leaking, causing LVSD, along with AV/MVs also leaking, and Hypertension.

I can't have OHS which we've known for years, but, more importantly, he confirmed that Paediatric Cardio/Surgeons @ Freeman Hosp, Newcastle have looked at the options and feel they can carry out an operation to close the leakage. So next stop will be to discuss the options with them just before Xmas.

So I'm optimistic this evening, although a tad cautious....☺

Ok, well Christmas isn’t too long to wait and hopefully, you being a heart old timer, they’ll see you as a priority case, if nothing else because you’re probably interesting to them! As you know, always on the journey with you so keep us updated. Guess that’ll also mean you can take my AV replacement and raise me a AV/MV repair. Always looking for the one upmanship! 😂

Hi Claire, Old Timer😃. It's my Shunt that's interesting them. The Cardio tried to explain it to me yesterday, but, I don't really understand it other than the blood is pumped tge opposite way to a normal heart. It's been leaking for years, but, it was always considered too risky to touch again. This is the first time, the surgical team have indicated they can do a repair. It's very intricate though, and unusual on an adult, hence the Paedeatric Surgeons. It's a renowned specialist hospital, so they should know what they're doing. From what I can gather, the AV/MV will only be closed out, if they repair the Shunt. It should be an interesting discussion😃.

Anyway, I trust your recovery is going well...

Ok, a bit over my head but yes, it’ll be interesting to seen what they can do and hopefully, sort out an ongoing issue. I’m not too bad. Had another little stay in hospital due to sudden chest pain which it seems, is due to the residue fluid in my chest cavity which doesn’t seem to want to go anywhere but otherwise, I’m getting there. Cheers Heeds

Thanks TRST, I always look for the positives☺
