there’s a very comprehensive article on the BHF website - put “valve repair” into their search box.
Though I expect what you want is peoples’ individual experiences. However, yours might not mirror theirs as your medical and family history, age, sex, height and weight etc etc etc might be very different.
I have had severe tricuspid leaking for at least 10/12 years.A hole in my heart was carried out with the leak. The surgeons usually repair a tricuspid valve when other heart valves need attention and do not usually repair it as a sole surgical op. Or that is what |i have been told at The John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.I am now 86 and pretty active .I walk daily shop and do various physical activities including dance and Zumba. So if the surgeons want to operate I would question their reasons for doing it as a sole operation.
The tricuspid valve controls blood flow on the right side of the heart. If it is leaking not all the blood flows to the lungs when the heart pumps. Not enough blood flows to through the lungs, not enough oxygen in your blood = short of breath and fatigue amongst other symptoms.
Surgery is always the last resort, at whatever age. If your consultant recommends surgery go for it as soon as possible. A couple of months down the line you will be hopping about like a new born lamb
Take care
