How many people taking bisoprolol and flecainide for svt?

Started with bisoprolol for my svt, I get heart rate as high as 170-196bpm.

They have now included flecainide to try to help. Is anyone else on this medication for svt and does it/has it helped???

I'm hoping it does for me to save me having to go to a& e for the dreaded adenosine 😁

Hello Dawny I have been having SVT since January, sometimes as high as 170 and lasting. hours .Initially, I had Propranol, which made no difference. Then Bisoprolol, which didn't make any difference; Now I take Flecainide and Bisoprolol 2.5mg. I have had no adverse effects from the drugs. During September, I was affected every evening - totally miserable. Since taking this combination I have had 3 incidents of SVT in a month. I know only too well that any of us in this position are looking for a miracle drug - I'm not saying this is it, but any

relief is very welcome. My Cardiologist remarked that it has a 50/50 chance of working -

lovely!

I take atenolol and flecainide for my SVT. I can get a heart rate of 280 beats per minute which is beyond terrifying. In these instances and before flecainide i would need to go into hospital for flecainide chemical iv and iv morphine for excruciating chest pain. Heres hoping the daily combination you are on works well for you. Good luck.

I have tachycardias usually 120-150 for anything from 1-24 hours and suggested to be SVT by my cardiologist. I have taken flecainide with bisoprolol as a pill in the pocket to stop it for about 3 years with good effect. I now have a good HR rather than being slowed to a crawl with regular bisoprolol only.

Has anybody considered ablation as it is an excellent solution for SVTs.

I have a telephone consultation on Tuesday to talk about the ins n outs of ablation. My heart scan shows that there is nothing structurely wrong with my heart. So my head says why mess with something that isn't broken as such. And also what if it makes matter worse x

You will have to listen to the consultant and decide for yourself. I get SVTs around 12 times a year and they only last for a minute or two at a time. I used to get them more frequently but now take 1.25mg Bisoprolol and that keeps them more or less at bay. I found they come on more when I am stressed or if I drink too much alcohol. If they are really bothersome to you then your consultant will advise and an ablation cures SVTs in 95% of cases. I wish you well either way.
