Does anyone taking bisoprolol (1.25mg) get a dry mouth? (LV impairment. Pacemaker. Heart failure ) It's especially bad at night.

Tried 2.5mg bisoprolol but dry mouth so bad I asked to drop to 1.25mg. Dry mouth still bad but I don't know anyone who gets this. Suggestions?

Not a problem I've had with Bisoprolol, I take 1.25 and also have a pm.

I took Bisoprolol for 3.5 years before I persuaded a doctor to let me stop. The instructions with it say Don't take it if your pulse is less than 60. Mine's always been under 60 and with 1.25mg Bisoprolol it was in the 40's. Since I stopped it's returned to the 50's. Didn't notice a dry mouth.

Interested in your post. 2 years ago I was on 1.25 Bisprolol and felt I was walking through treacle. Doc advised taking only when I had an episode of AF. Last week Cardiologist prescribed 2.5 and insisted I take it every day. My pulse like yours is always less than 60 and usually in low 40s. No breathlessness but I do have 2 leaks in my MV which have been described as moderate. Waiting for report back from echos and treadmill yesterday .

Hi my mum was experiencing dry mouth post Bypass when she was put Bisoprolol. Also she was on 2.5mg which was reduced to 1.25mg. She still suffer from dry mouth but it's not as bad on the lower dose. Hope you get it sorted.

I suffer with a dry mouth and am on 1.25 Bisoprolol. Never connected the two. I am on high dose of diuretics so have always thought it was perhaps that. When I am out and have my mask on it’s terrible can’t swallow and find have to suck a mint.Will certainly ask at my next appointment.

Hi, I have been diagnosed with Sjogrens( dry mouth, dry eyes) which is autoimmune disorder but being on 5mg Bisoprolol I do find my mouth is extremely dry at night! During the day I drink water constantly, but when I wake up at night to go to the toilet, I can't swallow, my tongue feels like a foreign object, like a piece of dry wood, inside of my mouth resembles Sahara! I need to drink water every time I wake up during the night. Bisoprolol could be exacerbating the problem, I don't know.

I don’t get this. A dry mouth is something my wife gets when she takes her tablets for overactive bladder. It’s a known side effect of all anticholinergic drugs, of which there are many.

A morning dry mouth can be caused by overnight nasal congestion, which I get badly, however.

Yes, I do get a dry mouth, quite honestly can't say I traced it to starting bisoprolol but it isn't something I've always had so will look further into it.

I take 5mg Bisoprolol and yes have dry mouth which is a known side effect.

Hi Milopalm, I was on bisoprolol but never associated with dry mouth because I am on a CPAP which can dry out your mouth. I used a dry mouth oral rinse. It helped some. Now that I am off bisoprolol, because of other side effects, I still use rinse occasionally because my mouth still get dry.

my husband takes bisoprolol as he had a stroke caused by AF which lead to stage 2 heart failure . He is on 5mg a day . It does make him tired and he had a sort of anxiety attack sometimes when he thinks for example about something that needs fixing in the house or bin collection day and we’re running late putting them out he sort of clenches his fists and his legs sort of go in a spasm . I’m not sure if this is because of his meds or his stroke . Has anyone else encountered these symptoms or seen them in a spouse . He gets over them but it’s a bit distressing to see . He doesn’t get a dry mouth as far as I know , although I’m always nagging him to drink more water .
