Hi

I’m new today and I’m looking for advice on Propranolol. The Doctor thinks I’m suffering from anxiety ? I’m not sure . Only been on these for 7 days and feel worse than I did. Not sleeping, can’t eat very dry mouth . Should I get my Thyroids checked?

I thought I was the only one suffering but I can see now I’m not. Thank you

I was on propranolol for many years and it only helped slightly with my high BP. Normally one would take propranolol with another drug like atenolol or amlodipine for BP.

It does lower heart rate as well being a beta blocker but does little for depression in my case.

I was put on Sertraline for depression.

Hi

Thank you for your reply. I have only been on these for a few days and they don’t really do much . I am starting therapy tomorrow so hopefully I can keep positive . Stay safe 😀

Hi I’m on these , very small dose 1.25 mg daily , had palpitations and after several tests all came back clear so now wondering if anxiety related as I feel edgy & nervous all the time . I’ve discovered meditation recently and it’s really really helped . Good luck on your journey

I have been on propranolol for 8 years. I take them for arrythmias and high BP. I'm on 80mg daily. They take a while to get used to. Initially they leave you with dry mouth and insomnia well they did with me. It does get better. If you're still struggling with them then speak to your GP and see if you can try something else. X

Can you tell me how long it took you to get used to it? I'm on 40mg day for BP and anxiety. It works for those but I get tired, stomach aches/diarrhea. Thanks

It took me a good 4-6 weeks to get used to it. It made me feel lethargic due to the insomnia. Although recently my palpatations have returned along with blue/purple toes so I think I may have to change my medication. If you're struggling with propranolol have a word with your GP x
