Hello Pammy :-)

I am in a similar situation having had a triple Bypass nearly 10 weeks ago I just live in constant fear of what if it has not worked , what if it goes wrong every ache and sensation instant panic

I also think my Husband is worn out listening to me and other than him no one else will listen to me !

We both should be reassured they found we had a problem and we got treatment unlike some that are not as lucky but knowing that does not stop this fear we feel and I wished I could give you the answer how to but wanted to let you know you are not alone in how you are feeling

Well done doing a mile walk a day I am intrigued about on line though is this a app or something ?

When no one wants to listen to you then come here and we will and hopefully that will help a little bit :-) x

Hello :-)

Thank you for that as I am agoraphobic so don't get out the house at the moment I am walking in my garden but as it gets colder I was thinking what else I could do so I shall have a look at those :-)

Remember you are not alone and if you ever need to talk then please do as it can really help or I feel it does :-) x

I agree exercise is exercise no matter which way you do it it all comes down to the same :-)I had a look and my fitness levels were rock bottom before my Bypasses and had been 3 years prior

I managed about 7 minutes of it which I know my Rehab Nurse will say that is good and I shall keep going at my pace till I can do it all :-)

I am glad you posted or I would have never known it was there :-) x

Hello 🙂 Pammy124prms

Thanks for sharing your exercise regime. I’ve just been watching Lesley Sansone and Rick and feel inspired to get walking indoors!

I do try to get out for a walk most days but no matter how much I plan my walk I’ve always got to encounter an incline to get home which sometimes brings on angina later in the day/evening.

At the moment I have undiagnosed microvascular/vasospastic angina so don’t have classic angina symptoms. I’ve a telephone consultation with a cardiologist who specialises in microvascular and vasospastic angina and hope to have an angiogram with acytelcholine which shows up these micro vessels.

Keep up with your walking and take care

Thanks for the reply god bless you

How do you mean walking a mile online? You need to be doing it offline, as in, walking a mile, or 3. It's no good moaning you have to get your head round the fact that you need to get fitter to try and stave off any further problems?

Once you have had a scare like that, it is natural to feel frightened and worried that something else might happen. Follow the advice you were given on diet and exercise and you will give yourself the best possible chance. See if you can get on a cardio rehab scheme. Mine had a dedicated session on this problem before COVID struck, which I found helpful. You can also talk to the BHF nurses whose contact details are on the website.

Keep up with the exercise, and I hope you will find, as I did, that the worries recede with time. Let us know how you are getting on.

youtu.be/neW1DFIG2VU?t=164 might cheer you up. Or not.

Hi Pammy, I've had 5 stents too so welcome to the club! I had lots of aches and pains during the first 12 months and I was very scared. But it does go with time. Just take it easy and live each day. In the end I accepted that we all have a time and if I go today well that was my time. Keep Smiling and live life to the full. It's a one way journey and we can only make the most of it x

My husband had two has snd numerous stents within twenty months and another blockage which needed stent 6 months after his second . He has never let it worry him. He just says he treats every minute of every day as a blessing. He knows if he is to get signs (which he did with the latest blockage) he gets it sorted. I am the worrier in the family and have found the last30 months hard. If you get any symptoms you are concerned about then please speak to drs. He walks miles and I’m certain it’s the fact that he was ‘fit’ has helped him through these rough times. Exercise is so good mentally too. Please if you are struggling ask for some help - don’t struggle on alone. Take Care. You will feel better as time goes on I’m sure x

Hi Pammy I had h.a.and stent, after 1 and half years I get the same pains in back and shoulders,I ended up in hospital over night they were so severe and cardiologist carried out the usual heart tests, but thankfully all was ok. He also explained the skeletal musclo chest wall pain and how much it resembles a h.a.thats why it's so scary.he told me to take co.codamol when it is very severe, but I have peace of mind knowing what the pain is now and how to treat it, good luck and take care x

It's natural to be shocked and worried. The doctors should give more help after fitting stents but if you think about it you are in a far better place now than you were and much safer. They have fixed your problems and as long as you now follow your advice on diet, weight, exercise and smoking you can ave a long healthy life ahead of you.

Hi Pammy

I had my 1st MI in August 1999, (my last so far in March this year) and in all these past 22 years I don't think there has been a time when some part of my waking brain has not been at least slightly concerned about what that thing in my chest was, or was not doing.

As others have said exercise and diet helped me get over the 1st one one and it was only when I lapsed and stopped playing the team sports (however badly) that had kept me healthy for many years did I find my self back where I started.

If you are like me you will always fear another MI, but you can do much to prevent it.

However you do need to talk to somebody bottling your fears will only harm you,.

What your feeling is normal I had my heart attack and stent 3 yrs ago for a long time after I felt the same but now I feel so much better than before my heart attackIf it gets to bad speak to your gp as mine said it was a form of ptsd

Good luck and take care

I have had 8 stents inserted over a period of 1.5 yrs (legs, aorta and heart). The 3 stents in my heart in the last 7 months. I was also diagnosed with unstable angina, which means an attack can come on even if I am sitting doing nothing. Like you, I get odd sensations in my chest that I don't think are angina pains, but i am not sure. Who do you go to talk to. GPs are not seeing people face to face and I dont wish to discuss over the phone, as the minute I mention anything to do with the heart they tell me to ring 999. Family are good, but I really need to speak to someone with knowledge and understanding. So I just try and cope. So you are not on your own, anbd I feel your worry. Exercise is good, but I, unfortunately, cannot do exercise at the moment as I have a breathing problem ( due to macrocytic anaemia) and a vascular problem with my legs. I have used Leslie Sansome in the past, and she is excellent, so keep up the good work.
