I had a heart attack in the early hours of 14th June 2020 I've had ongoing problems with pains and discomfort since but for 3 weeks there it all settled down. That was until Monday 7th December was just sitting on the couch not doing anything and suddenly the pains in my chest were unbearable took my gtn spray done nothing then the exact same symptoms (at least what I can remember) as my heart attack the nausea and sweating like I had just came out a shower. 999 called crews turned up all checks done and ecg was once again normal of to hospital they took me bloods done troponin level was 11 no sign of heart attack. The doctor have put it done to a angina attack every since been getting little niggles/pains. I can't go on like this I've had enough life is on hold scared to do things constantly what it's.
Sick fed up of people saying it my weight I know I'm overweight but that's a plan for 2021 to lose and get fit.

I have no words of wisdom but others will , I just wanted to say how I feel for you regarding the fear you are feeling and that you are not alone
I had a heart attack 9 weeks ago and I am in fear all the time with every ache and pain I feel , it is dreadful feeling this way every day
Good luck on your loosing weight journey , I need to loose some to , I have made a start every little things help , I am not going on a crash diet as they seem to be hard to maintain but I am watching what I am eating and I have cut down my portion sizes which I believe is a good start and then I can hopefully build on that
I shall eat what I want at Christmas within reason but again I shall cut back on the treats I would normally have and after Christmas I shall cut out the treats altogether
Hope you get some replies that will be of more help but wanted t let you know you are not on your own especially regarding the fear
Thank you exactly how I'm feeling what people don't get even the hospital said it that because of covid19 I've not had the correct support throughout it all
Same here , I am not getting the support that we would normally get had it not been for Covid , I am still waiting to speak to the Consultant since been discharged it makes it so much harder and these fears we have to
You will get there though , keep believing , easier said than done as when I am in a bad way there is no consoling me , but we will and in the meantime know you have this wonderful Community that you can lean on x
Welcome to the forum, not somewhere you ever thought you would be joining. When we have a heart event, it feels like a big hole as opened up under our feet and the life we had as completely disappeared. I am sorry to say it as, our lives now are the new normal, we have a new diet a new exercise program and pills we have to take. But the bottom line is we still have a life, it does get better but it does take time.
Have a look at the Mediterranean diet lots of us follow that it’s recommended by BHF and it’s very easy to follow. Have a look on their website and you will find lots of info. I know cardio rehab isn’t going yet, but get yourself on the list for when it does. I found it invaluable as much for my mental health as for my stamina. As well as starting you exercising you have the cardio nurses there to keep an eye on you. Being with others who have been through the same experiences as you is such a help. But in the meantime gentle walking, after my surgery I used to count lamp posts and try and make it to the next one on my next walk, silly I know but it worked.
Remember you are now part of the Hearties family and if you need to talk someone will be along to listen or give you a shoulder to lean on if that’s what you need.
Hi Darren, sorry to hear you are experiencing these symptoms. What you are going through is my history for the past 20 months having a HA in Feb 2019 and 2 stents fitted I've not felt right since, feeling every niggle and pain. I've had changed meds and 2 more stents fitted, ( July this year) angiograms cancelled on the day and I'm currently speaking from my hospital bed after suffering HA symptoms on Thursday this week. I've visited hospital with HA symptoms probably 10 times within the last 20 months each time the tests show no HA. But the symptoms are the same. The last 2 weeks I've really tried to get over these symptoms and have not called for help when I should of. Cardiologist said to me yesterday "do not muck about with this, if you have symptoms and the GTN spray doesn't work call 999 straight away, no one will judge you if it isn't a HA. In March this year my symptoms were really bad and I was in hospital 3 times diagnosed as angina. They were going to send me out again but I pushed the cardiologist and had another angiogram. This showed my LAD had several blockages and after 2 hours in the op I had 2 more stents fitted and other balloon treatments to open arteries. Without pushing I would probably have had another HA soon caused by blockage to the LAD. Widow maker I believe it is known as. What I'm trying to say in my long winded way and in my experience is that those who shout loudest are normally the ones seen first. Those who just accept are left to the waiting list, which for my area we all received a letter early November stating our procedure will be carried out within the next 24 months, which will be too late for some. Fear is a terrible thing and very difficult to control I'm getting help from our local mental health team who are very good but when you are having that HA pain and feeling that fear of death, it's so real. Good luck with getting fit in 2021 remember the heart is a muscle so needs to be warmed up and cooled down especially for us hearties.
It’s scary but lots of us here have been through similar issues. None of us are medically qualified but it sounds like angina. Do not feel guilty about calling for an ambulance if the pain doesn’t go away after a second spray. You must nag your GP to get you in for tests. There is in some hospitals a Rapid Access Chest Pain clinic. Finally I had a severe panic attack, no pain but I was sweating and shaking. I thought it was the onset of a HA and got in a cab to A&E. of course it wasn’t. Do not underestimate what severe anxiety will do to your body (and heart!). One of the great resources of the BHF are the phone in nurses with whom you can discuss your anxieties and get advice. Finally I would urge you not to put off losing weight. It is one thing that you can control and with gentle exercise (see the BHF site for advice you will feel better physically and mentally. Good luck.
I don't have any direct advice to give you, other than the shared experience of having had a HA, but I will tell you what I was told - time is critical. I had my first chest pains about 09:30, by 10:30 I was sure it was a HA and so I called 999. 15 minutes later was receiving treatment. I was rushed to a local hospital that has a cath lab and had stents inserted before 12:00. I was told that my prompt action had prevented damage to my heart and this indeed proved to be the case. So if you have further incidences of pain, then do not hesitate to get help.
Another thing that I was told was that I had to be proactive in looking after myself. With an interest in hill walking I was already quite fit and active and had a good diet with minimal alcohol intake, but there was still room for improvement. I have also found it necessary to be proactive with regards to my ongoing care and keeping positive has been absolutely essential.
I do hope that you can overcome the anxiety that you are currently feeling and get to a position where you are looking forward to the future. Try to find something positive in each day. I know it is difficult in these strange times, but it will not always be like this.
First of all do not ever hesitate about calling 999 when it's so bad. Whatever the reason for it it needs investigating. Secondly why is the weight loss a plan for next year? Why not right this minute? After my Heart Attack I totally changed my diet and lost 2 stone over 18 months without even trying. I changed from red meat to chicken, swapped cooking with oil or fat to olive oil and started piling vegetables into every meal. ( I hate vegetables)It's amazing how little meat you need for a bolognese if you chop up mountains of vegetables. My husband has lived his life on pies, and meat and two veg with lost of roast potatoes and chips. He hasn't even noticed the change. I've even used quorn without him even knowing. I also use smaller plates. Take a look at the BHF recipes; they are excellent. JUst small changes can have a massive impact
Look up Dr McDougall and his information about heart disease and the food that you eat. One thing that I learned is that many meals get you to that place but it is one loaded meal that takes you over the top. Why would you invest in being anxious about your situation but put off making the change that could save your life?
