Hi I had a pacemaker fitted in June and although I no longer pass out which is wonderful I still suffer from dizziness and fatigue. I have spoken to my gp about this on a few occasions and have been prescribed 1.25mg of bisoprolol but am concerned as the top side effects are dizziness and fatigue does anyone have experience of this? Tia
Bisoprolol: Hi I had a pacemaker fitted... - British Heart Fou...
Bisoprolol
Thank you for replying, I did think it was more to do with settings on pacemaker needing adjusted but still waiting for cardiologist to get back to gp on that just reluctant to start meds before that x
Left pacing clinic a message 3 weeks ago and not heard back but don’t want to push as I know I’m not priority and as you say it’s working!
With my pacer clinic I can ring them any time and they will ring me back. It has occasionally taken a few days but never as long as 3 weeks and I think your original message may have gone astray. It would seem perfectly reasonable to ring again and let them know you still have no improvement with the dizziness and fatigue. Can you send a remote report, do you have a monitor or an app on your phone like I do? Sending a report could help reassure you or show them if anything does need tweaking.
Your symptoms could be unrelated to heart or pacemaker, have you had thyroid and vitamin test to see if you are low in something.
I had a pacemaker fitted 18 months ago, started off on 2.5 Bisoprolol recently changed to Tildiem which was awful so I've put myself back on 1.25 Bisoprolol.
Throughout this time I've had dizziness and fatigue but I have underactive thyroid plus I'm deficient in VitD, B12 and Folate so nothing to do with my pacemaker.
Hi, I started taking bisoprolol 1.25mg in 2015 for heart failure and it made me very tired a lot of the time but it did wear off. I’m now on 10mg and have no side effects relating to it, I hope this helps or is somewhat reassuring at least.
Hi Weeloula. I've been on the same dose, the lowest they prescribe I believe, since February. No side effects whatsoever for me. Good luck 🙂
I was prescribed Biso for heart failure, but could not tolerate it. Extreme fatigue and mental fog. Now on Ivabradine, much better but with its own side effects.
Hi. I've had my pacemaker for 5 weeks now. I also don't collapse anymore and have also suffered from dizziness and fatigue since the pacemaker was fitted. I already take bisoprolol. The hospital have said I'm anaemic and have given me iron tablets and since taking these I am slowly getting better. So perhaps this is what your problem is. Take care.
I've had my pacemaker for just over 2 years now and feel great, but I remember the first few months very well. I too felt weak and dizzy for a few months, but it passed. I had been told before leaving hospital that it would take several months for my body to adapt to the pacemaker, so wasn't worried.
