I need help understanding F H. As I have just been tested and it turns out I have it. I only found this out because my 19 year old son crashed his car in December and he had F H. They can't rule out that's what made him crash. I turned his life support machine of the next day as there was no hope.

Hello and welcome to the forum! I am so sorry to hear of the death of your son at such a young age, and thoughts are with you, family and friends.
Familial Hypercholesterolaemia (FH) is a hereditary condition that causes unnaturally high levels of cholesterol which result in narrowing of the arteries. This leads to heart attack and stroke at an early age. Usually this is around mid-thirties upwards. Nineteen seems so young!
For a better understanding I suggest you start with this BHF webpage:

It may also be worth having a hat with the BHF nurses, on 0300 330 3311. They are available weekdays between 9:00 and 5:00.

I am so sorry to hear about your son. That must have been so hard for you.
As your FH has been diagnosed, I am sure it can be treated. I can only echo Michael's advice to talk to the BHF nurses, and send love and best wishes to you.
Absolutely heartbreaking for you. I’m so sorry! 🙏
Adding my voice to the others - a terrible loss for you and your family. You're in my prayers.
Thank you all so much for your lovely words during the worst time ever. Xx
