Newbie here... concerns re husband

My husband (age 53) started to feel unwell in March, breathlessness, fatigue and 'heavy' legs. After seeing a GP, blood tests were run and referred to a Rheumatologist. We saw Rheumatologist privately, who ran tests for muscle disease, bone cancer etc. Overall husband is a healthy man. He has had steroids for breathing, slight improvement, antibiotics just in case of 'infection/virus'... there is a possible option for a body & head scan. My concern is it could be a heart problem; I am not aware any tests have been carried out about from Co2 levels with regard to his heart. Can anyone point me in the right direction or what to ask the GP. Every other part of his body seems to have been checked! Thank you

I would have thought had they thought it was his heart they would have already carried out tests or arranged them but there again you can never be sure with Doctors sometimes

I think keep it simple and just ask the question you have put here , could it be anything to do with his heart and for peace of mind could he be referred to check as you are worried

I am not sure how they could refuse you but if they did ask them for a full explanation

This conversation they would have to log on his records so if they did refuse and got it wrong they would have a lot to answer to and I hope Doctors bear that in mind if they refuse us and so therefore would not unless 100% sure

These are our bodies and I think if we are in any doubt we have a right to ask so do so and let us know how you get on x

Thank you, I agree, he should just ask, "could it be my heart" Ironically I provide court cases for misdiagnosis and harm, so I am always clear about written information. Difficulty getting a GP appointment at the moment.

Well he is in good hands if that is what you used to do :-)I know appointments are hard to get not sure as to why as everything else seems to have gone back to normal I wonder if asking for a telephone call instead could be easier to get as this is something that could be spoken about without a visit and say yes it is important and we do want an appointment , sometimes you have to be assertive with these Doctors

Make a list of everything you want to ask and get the answers to them that is what I do x

I'm quite sure that if your husband's GP felt there might be a heart problem they would have arranged for appropriate investigations but no harm in asking if there could be a problem in this area.

He could ask the GP to check his ankle pulses to rule out peripheral arterial disease. Essentially occluded or blocked arteries in his legs. It can take me awhile to get this diagnosed and is often missed. Or it could be something else entirely. Good luck.
