Are you taking Omeprazole or something similar?I was diagnosed with angina some eight years ago....the "indegestion" pains across my chest and shoulders due to the medication were terrible....a few days after starting on Omeprazole they all but disappeared.

Hi, I am taking antorvastatin and they are definately causing the pain, I didn't take them for a day and the pain all but dissapeared. I have a consulttion with my GP in a weeks time and will mention it.

Hi Loxm,How was your angina diagnosed? Have you seen a cardiologist? If not you should be referred to one ASAP...

I had vairous test and narrowing of the arteries was the diagnosis although blood flow was not restricted enough for real concern. I recently moved so changed GP's it so happens that my current GP does not agree with the angina diagosis, they have seen all of the test results but for some reason do not class it as angina. I am generally alright but have what feels like constant wind trapped in my chest and indegestion symptoms which the statins seems to make alot worse. I also sometimes feel as though my heart is restricted and tight which can last a while, i cycle a bit, visit the gym, walk and follow a good diet so am not overly concerned but a little anxious.

It does sound like your medication isn't agreeing with you. Worth getting a referral for chest pain for a second opinion at least?

Hi LoxmI have the same problem when I do to much like walking and lifting anything it’s part off my life now.

When it gets two bad I will use my GTN spray and take a stronger aspirin if the pain doesn’t go after two attempts it’s always a 999 call on advice from my cardiac consultant and cardiac nurse.

Hope this info helps the main is don’t panic and you should be fine.

Cheers Andy

Hi Andy, thanks for your reply. I still visit the gym and enjoy lifting weights, I feel my heart working when doing this but not to a degree where I have any real concern. I have the GTN spray but have not used it as yet. I havee not felt uncomfortable enough to feel that I need to call the emergency services but am very mindful that that is an option.
