Indapamide for bp
Hi Pastime,
It looks as though you will need to get back to your GP to get the medication changed yet again. I can appreciate the hassle as I too am allergic to many drugs. Indeed, all thiazide and loop diuretics such as Indapamide, Furosemide and Bendroflumethiazide make me ill. After just a couple of tablets I am very unwell with a seriously bad head, aches all over by body and no energy. I have to have potassium sparing diuretics such as Amiloride. Unfortunately in certain quarters this is "against protocol".
I hope you soon manage to get medication to lower your BP without making you unwell.
Kind regards,
Gerald
Thankyou I think I must be same as you. Have now stopped Indapamide have an appointment with gp next week think they have run out of options for me. But they make me so ill
Just to say I had a very bad experience with Indapamide. Took 2 tablets (1 each day). Arms came out in a prickly heat kind of rash. I stopped immediately. For the next FIVE months I had a terrible time. Rash spread, body swollen all over. Doctor recommended a stay in hospital in case I got broken skin from the swelling. All to say, I know we’re all different but if you get an immediately adverse reaction you did the right thing. Surely there must be an alternative. I’m now taking epleronone and this is working ok. Hope you get sorted soon. Best wishes.
Hi, sorry to hear of your experience. My GP put me on Amlodipine 5mg and Indapamide 10mg both together in March this year after I consulted him with severe migraine. Turned out my bp was sky high. Made me feel dreadful, awful headache and feeling sick. It wore off after a couple of days and now due to my potassium levels being affected I’ve been taken off Indapamide for a few months now. Glad to say I feel a lot better and touch wood not had a migraine since. Hate taking medication but my bp is a lot better
Hi Pastime. I’ve been on Amlodipine and Indapamide for a few years now, given to me by a cardiologist when other medication wasn’t lowering my BP. I had no problems but unfortunately I recently had to come off Indapamide as it was lowering my sodium too much. Shame as it was controlling my BP beautifully. In your case you need to speak to your GP as they can try you on another drug.
