Medication Bracelet

Hi

I am on around 9 different medic after my heart attack. Does anyone know where you can get a bracelet that you can get all your meds engraved on? Most only give you 30 or 40 letters and I need a lot more than that.

My wife thinks there is a bracelet that opens to reveal a paper list of them all.

Any pointers would be great.

Thanks

Hello FRANKIENCOCO

I have a SOS MEDICAL ALERT bracelet. Your wife is quite right it as a paper inside a waterproof opening, on mine it as my medication, my open heart surgery plus my hospital number so they can get my medical records. It also has point of contact for my son, my husband as had a stroke so wouldn’t be able to tell anyone about my medication. If something happened in the house and if I was outside they would be aware that I have medical issues.

You can find them on line very easily, not expensive I have had this one for over 2 years never take it off shower daily with it on and it’s never let water in.

There are others that you pay a monthly subscription to a company and they have all your details on file and would inform Ambulance personal over the phone.

Hope that helps a little bit.

Best wishes Pauline

I have had a Medic Alert bracelet for the past 14 years and pay an annual fee of about £25. Main health conditions are engraved on the bracelet along with my membership number. There is a 24 hour helpline phone number accessible from anywhere in the world. MA has details of my medical information and emergency contacts on file and I can update them on my computer at any time. Wearing the bracelet gives me confidence. Details of MA can be found online.

I too have a MedicAlert bracelet and love it for the peace of mind it gives. Mine saved my life back in 1973 when in a car wreck - because I had that bracelet on, the emergency room medics knew what medications they could-couldn't give, they had my complete medical history immediately including the name and telephone numbers of my GP and cardiologist.

I did have a 'wallet card' in my handbag - the handbag flew out of the car during the wreck and wasn't found for three weeks. My bracelet stayed on my wrist and prevented ER docs administering a drug I'm allergic to.

The MedicAlert jewellery comes in several metals and styles including bracelets and necklaces suitable to any personal taste.

I cannot recommend MedicAlert highly enough.

I have a list of my medical info (including contact no.s) on a piece of paper tucked inside my phone case. I have my phone on me for the step-counting function.

I should get one but he paper wouldn't be long enough for all my allergies or health problems LOL.

I use theidbandco.com.. they also do plastic credit card sized medical cards that take a lot of info, including medication. My Alert band just says "see medical card in wallet" and i make to always have my wallet in my pocket

If you have an apple iPhone you can enter all these details in the health app on the phone. This has a sections called ICE (in case of emergency) which can be accessed by first responders from you Lock Screen without the need for a pass code. This app also contains the names and numbers of people to be contacted in the event of an emergency.

I have put these on my iphone too. The App is great for counting steps etc. I like my MA bracelet because emergency services will definitely check for a pulse. Or I can wave my arm around to draw attention to the bracelet (which I once did from a stretcher !) 😀

I made my fiancé a medical alert card that he keeps in the front of his wallet so it’s visible as soon as he opens it. I laminated it so it stays in tact!

It has all his meds, his conditions and mine and his kids contact details on.

Might be an idea to consider.

This is exactly what I have done. It lists, current medication, allergies and intolerances, hospital numbers, next of kin, phone numbers, etc. I made several so I can carry them in various pockets when I am out climbing hills. 😀

Great idea. MA also has a plastic wallet card the size of a credit card. Mine sits in my purse beside my pacemaker card and an anticoagulant alert one. Complete set ! But I also have a couple of blood cancers so need somewhere where all my information can be found quickly. What’s important is to feel confident that if you are alone should a crisis occurs that the services have easy access to what they need.

So long as you are fully confident that the emergency services would search for your phone immediately to find your personal information then that’s a really good idea.

I wear 2 dog tags which are engraved as reckoned they are likely to go for my chest than any other area in an emergency.
