Hi I had a pacemaker fitted on Monday. I am considering a medi alert bracelet but not sure if I need one?
What has everyone else done? I know I can put info on my phone as well.

I wear one and have pacemaker and blood thinner on it as well as my name and NHS number. Although I try to carry cards with me in my phone case I don't always have them with me.
I don't have a pacemaker, but I wear one that says I'm on warfarin.
I wear a rubber medical alert bracelet with my pacemaker. I am not sure if it'll make a huge difference in case of an emergency but some of the Cardiologists I spoke to thought it was a good idea, especially since I travel a lot abroad. I also have my device info on my phone, which can be accessed on lock screen.
I use either an SOS talisman necklace or bracelet. I find it reassuring to know no one needs to find my mobile if I need emergency treatment.
After a stroke I started a health improvement running programme and eventually joined Parkrun events. They have ID rubber bands which you have your Parkrun number but also options to add ICE telephone contact and basic medical information. I have my wife's phone and listed my antiplatelet medication for stroke. This January while on parkrun I had a sudden cardiac arrest! My band was suddenly very useful as my wife was contacted as well as valuable information for the emergency services. Since then I have purchased a new band with my ICD (defibrillator and pacemaker) added. These ICE bands are available elsewhere, I think they're very good insurance!
A good Xmas present - parkrun are good quality and my two year old band is still in excellent condition and I wear them everyday so if you spend about £20 you are in the right price point.
Sounds brill. My arthritis makes parkrun impossible, but is it possible to get one of these bracelets elsewhere?
I think if you look up ICE bands on Amazon you should find similar.
A quick search on Mr Google came up with lots! iceid.co.uk/running-id/?srs...
I have the details on my phone, and also written out on cards I keep in my phone case and in my purse.
I wear one and it says pacemaker and that additional info in phone case. I bought one that I could put my own info inside not engraved on it. It is an expanding bracelet . I knows Coopers of Stortford sell them.
Surely, the whole point of a MedicAlert bracelet or tag is to alert a first aider if you are in an uncommunicative state and in need of medical care. A paramedic, for example, may not notice your pacemaker scar. Moreover, on MedicAlert you can populate as much of your past medical information as you wish including past and present conditions; current prescription drugs etc which again may not be readily available to a medical team. You can also include details of your GP; your cardiologist and the type of device fitted and where the procedure was undertaken. The latter may be important if you need an emergency MRI. Remember there is nothing joined up when it comes to our NHS and patient records.
My wife has one following the fitting of her pacemaker: she is also on Edoxaban for paroxysmal AF (an incidental finding whilst investigating TLoC). She also had a pheochromocytoma removed 3 years ago. As well as pacemaker she still has an ILR.
When I got my ICD, I bought a couple of the rubber bracelets which say “Alert! ICD fitted”. I did wear one regularly for a while, then only when I went out on long cycle rides. Then I stopped cycling, so I don’t wear them at all anymore. It’s on my phone, and I carry the paperwork with my driving license, so I’m not sure an obvious warning is needed, but, of course, it might give you extra confidence while you get used to the pm.
Ive just ordered one on ebay as Ive only got a small card which is kept in my mobile phone wallet.
I had a pacemaker fitted on 11.11.24, I bought a medical alert bracelet off of Amazon, it came direct from China but only took just over a week. I've got pacemaker, apixaban and diabetes type 2
on the front with PTO and ICE contact details on the back. Stainless Steel adjustable strap, very good quality for the princely sum of £9.99. They had a large number of styles.
It does make me feel better knowing that the information is on my wrist.
I have both a Pacemaker aware card and also a Warfarin card in my purse which I have on me all the time. Very rare do I leave home without it.
Hi Can I ask about your experience of having your Pacemaker implanted and how are you feeling now? I`m due one on December 23rd of all days and I`m absolutely petrified of having it done, any words of comfort to offer, please.
Hi I was very nervous but it was not as bad as I thought. The staff were amazing and I got lots of reassurance and information. The first 48/36 hours was painful but this has got so much better. Looking forward to getting the dressing off so I can have a shower. I am sure you will be fine. Just make sure you rest when you get home.
SOS talisman, never take it off.
Hi, Daisy charm bracelet on Amazon that’s where I got mine from they fit my nomination bracelet that I already had so it’s perfect and they aren’t expensive. Look Daisy Charm bracelet up on Amazon. X
Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences. I am going to order one today.
I have the card thing they gave me. Copied it and keep original in my wallet, copy in car, and copy in sail bag, Cardio numbers on my mobile. Not really a jewellery person.
