Have just had my routine blood test cancelled due to National shortage of blood test tubes. Hope there are enough for seriously ill people

National shortage of blood test tube.
I actually posted about this last week:

I find it staggering we are reliant on a US company for this. We used to have a thriving glass industry and we should be capable of making these!
I had blood tests scheduled for Friday (afterbut GP popped in and did them today. He also stopped the iorn tablets as a quick examination showed no signs of anemia.
Also my first pee test since my BKA - a bit awkward 😀 🤣 🙃
They are cancelling non urgent so they can do urgent ☺️
The European distribution centre for Beckton Dickinson is located in Belgium and it seems no other European country is reporting shortages, just the UK.
I saw a GP last week who did 5 blood tests. I was very surprised.
Great 😺
My blood test was also cancelled and while I have rebooked another (to check on liver and kidney function after a change in my meds), they are not confident it won't also get cancelled. It is a scandalous situation that the government can't even manage a secure supply of basic medical kit. Even if only routine tests are affected this will jeopardise the health of some patients who aren't now getting tests that would have revealed a problem.
I’ve just come out of hospital and I asked the nurse as she took my blood again and she said it’s not has bad as the press are making it out to be. So who knows
Well I have to ask again on the 17 th so maybe I may be lucky🐸
Had my bloods taken today, check for kidney function in readiness for Heart Failure Clinic next week. Nurse did query why I was having them taken.
Glad you managed to have it
