Well I have been disconnected from everything and I am walking free. I had an echo done this afternoon and it was brilliant to see it working perfectly.Very uncomfortable night last night as the air con broke down and it was 26 in the bedroom so not much sleep. I like to think I can keep calm but I would really like to take a hammer to all the alarms on the many machines they have to use. Just one more night and I am going home tomorrow,my exercise is no problem just making sure it is slowly, slowly.only one lot of pain killers today and that’s not being brave. One last thing and I feel I should share it with everyone as it made me so happy,I had a poo. There I have no secrets from you.
Let you know how I get on in recovery..Going to watch England now, don’t care what the score is as it will not alter how happy I feel.👋

Hi carluke. Glad to hear you are doing so well and normal bathroom service has been resumed! Seem to remember whatever you are in for, the doctors aren't keen to let you go home until you have performed! Bet you can't wait to get home, it will be so peaceful and the bed so comfortable. Hope the footy didn't affect your bp too much. Best wishes x
Great to read, you are doing so well. Watching the football must have been the icing on the cake 😂 just remember when you get home slowly does it. Keep doing the breathing exercises.Best wishes Pauline
Hi Carluke, so pleased you have had a poo, thank you for sharing that with us, better when you can have a poo in your own home. Get well soon, small steps to start with. Take care.
You've done brilliantly, and when you think in such a short space of time. Sure you will feel even better when you get home and one of the excellent things about this site is that we all feel better and encouraged by other people's progress, particularly helpful for newbies. Football going well at the moment - and I'm a massive Wimbledon fan - so a lot of good distractions. Onwards and upwards and thanks for keeping us in the picture.
Inspiring updates from you…thank you for being so upbeat 😀, you’re wonderful!I wish you well for a speedy recovery..I’m sure with your attitude you will be fighting fit in no time. Take care.
Brilliant report - in all aspects 🤪. So pleased for you. Just don’t run before you can walk and be gentle with yourself. Enjoy being back home ASAP Best wishes Pat
Thought I would throw in couple of words as you all seem like a good bunch of lad's and lady's about the recovering and the doctor's and nurses of course 👍🌈were all great when was in bother maybe all have the same thing about small steps what Ruth 👍 and Pauline💓where saying I was told "baby steps"when i was discharged . still good to see did anyone get anything to up them get a good night's sleep?as I know the doctor's don't want to give with the medications but was one of the last times I was comfortable was before they put pump to help my heart cope, procedure.and was wondering how everybody has been as comfortable and back to resting contempt?
My Drs and nurses used to say that there was no reason why I should be in pain, so I don’t remember much of the first few days. I do remember taking painkillers regularly during the month that I was in hospital although I know that in the later weeks it was paracetamol. I was often uncomfortable - that’s the nature of surgery, but never in pain.
Well 4-0 should have cheered you up!!! So glad you're doing really well and that you're going home. Remember NO going over speed bumps!!Take it easy and keep posting.
Well done, remember to take things slowly when you do get home! Keep up the walking and breathing exercises. Put a folded towel between your seatbelt and chest scar when in the car.
Glad you are becoming more comfortable, and yes those alarms can drive a person crazy. I used ear plugs or had headphones on a lot of the time.It is amazing how important a regular poo is! I speak as someone who has a very ‘lazy bowel’! The only good thing about having AFib post surgery was that the IV magnesium gave me almost instant diarrhea! After horrible constipation that was a huge relief!
Hello
Just saw your update and so pleased you are doing so well
I know you said you did not care what the score was with the Footie but I bet you were well pleased and I wonder how many more machines were making a noise from all the excitement !
Hooray! After all you went through to finally get the op done. Crazy! Glad it went well. Hooray for the 4-nil (even here in the US we were watching that match 😀) and hooray for the poo. 😂 hospital stays and poo, always a challenge,
Good luck today for going home - Can't believe that a week has gone by and you are all 'done' and on the road to recovery. The general consensus on here is that the waiting is the worst stage ??
