This time last year I presented at A&E with chest pains and have been on medication ever since

In December an angiogram revealed "severe stenosis" of arteries round the heart and in January this year a Joint Cardiology Conference recommended a quadruple bypass

In March I had a 4 hour pre-op assessment at the hospital and I was told that I was on a 8-10 week waiting list

After that the waiting, waiting, waiting became so stressful that I voluntarily came off the waiting list till after the family holiday in August

We got back from Spain on 15 August and on 20 August I was told that they can do me on 28 August (subject to emergencies)

I have to stop taking anti-clotting tablets (Clopidogrel) tomorrow and blood-thinners (Apixaban) on Saturday and then present myself in the ward at 4pm next Tuesday 27 August

I feel that thanks to the advice on this forum and website I am mentally prepared for what I have to go through-though originally it was proposed to be a MIDCAB through- the- ribs procedure

I must say I am grateful to the hospital as I had assumed that I would have to go to the bottom of the list

Hoping to post updates in due course and many thanks for all the advice

and thank you too-curiously enough I feel strangely calm after all the anxiety, worry and restlessness

I will try to keep a note of my changing emotions in my diary

when they get round to it the pre-med is a complete mood-changer
