hi, I am a 53 yr old woman and had a heart attack 3 years ago. since then I have had 4 angiograms 5 stents medication and balloons in arteries and still feel ill. its been so frustrating and depression has set in as I started to feel like I was imagining my pains or that I might die trying to push myself. TODAY however, I saw a different cardiologist and he has recognised what I thought that I have, micro vascular angina. I learnt about it from this site and thought last year that I may have that. it is not recognisable from an angiogram as it narrowing in the very tiny arteries around the heart, apparently quite common with a person who suffers with rheumatoid arthritis too. so I am about to begin some new meds and hopefully will begin to feel like my old self at last. ill keep you all posted on my wellness or not lol as the case may be. I feel quite hopeful and positive so fingers crossed.

Hi cocoaxx
It is good to hear that finally the awareness of Microvascular angina is growing and that the cause of your ongoing angina pain has been recognised.
I hope you can work with your Cardiology team to find the best treatment to help treat your microvascular angina
If you need any further research articles just give me a shout 😊
Good luck!
Hi there, I too had a HA to the LAD last May, I had Stent fitted and all the usual meds, I’d always had some small chest pain after the angiogram and stent fitted, the back end of last year I started getting increased pain, in Feb I had what Hospital thought was another small HA or unstable angina , as troponan level was only 37 I was discharged from hospital after 4 days on extra meds ‘Ranolazine’ ‘amlodipine’ increased beta blockers, I was only home 3 days and back in with massive chest pain, Drs thought again a possible HA I was given another angiogram with revealed “Coronary Artery Spasm’ the new meds are Tildiam which after taking 3 weeks have really helped and things are now settling down, hope these new meds work for you.
Hello cocoaxx. Please keep us informed how you are going along we are all here to help each other with worries and advice if we can. And keep our spirits up too. Take Care. Hope you feel better. Brian
Well done for pushing to get answers. Although depressing it really does pay. As well as my hert, I started suffering unbearable pain back in 2002. I did my own research and was certain what it was but after visiting various pain consultants, rheumatologists, neurosurgeons; several of them privately. I got nowhere and my GP kept trying to insist it was all in my head. 10 years later I saw a new pain consultant who announced "You have Maigne syndrome". I cried in relief. IT was too late by then to cure it but my treatment has been so much better. If you are pretty sure what's wrong, do NOT give up.
Ooh, definitely keep us posted. I'm just shy of 4 months after my single stent and the cardio team all say I should be fine but I am still getting chest pains. They get attributed to anxiety but often happen when I'm not stressed or thinking about my condition. It's so tiring never 'getting well'.
thankyou everyone for your replies. its so good to know there are many people out there who can reach out and get support. im sick of feeling unwell, just want my life back and it really can get you down when the people around you don't even ask if your ok because they cant see your pain or discomfort. if I try and discuss anything most people just appear to not know what to say other than well you look okay. I have COPD and rheumatoid arthritis with fybromialgia jumping in whenever it chooses to. but life carries on and I always try and stay positive and continue to work part time but gosh its a struggle most of the time. I hope my new meds make a difference and allow me to lose some of this excess weight that's just crept up on me whilst ive been so inactive. the biggest problem I think is that they give you meds to help but then they also have side effects like constipation, nausea etc so your support and advice is great and it means a lot thanks everyone. stay well and safe from this virus. they say having a good mental state can help us so keep your chins up xx
All the very best Cocoaxx, please keep us posted as to your progresss.
