HA/fatigue/fibromyalgia/nerves

So, spoke to the GP on Friday. Talked about having occasions of fatigue since my HA in December 2024. Her view was that my heart is fine (cardiologist says the same), blood tests show my levels are all good, too. She said I'm suffering with post-HA fatigue which takes 3-6 months to go. She also said it could be linked to fibromyalgia, which can be seen in cardiac patients.

I must admit that I'm not breathless, can use the stairs without a problem so I have seen improvements. It's just these occasions of real fatigue.

I'm concerned as I was feeling fatigued before my HA. So when I get this fatigue, the nerves kick in, the niggles in my chest start and the anxiety is set off again.

Has anyone been told about cardiac issues and fibromyalgia ? Or gets/got this fatigue after their HA?

Thanks.

I had my HA only 5 weeks ago and really feel the fatigue. Trying to make sure I get plenty of sleep and just accept that it will all take time. The emotional shock of going through the HA as well as the physical drain is bound to make you tired. No knowledge about the fibromyalgia.

This is very interesting , I had flare ups of joint pain , fatigue , zombie episodes , cognitive impairment, that I put down to side effects of statin ( 80mg artovastatin) that led to a trial stoppage for about 6-8 eeeks and I get great. I started a different statin and the symptoms came back working a week (pravastatin 40mg) have been on 10mg Rosuvastatin ever since . No teguskr issues. However , currently I am having an attack if something since last Friday , thought I’d caught a chill or over done it after a run session in morning ( jogging 6k) a bit of work round our small holding and getting caught in the hail/sleet, then a coached swim session in the evening. I couldn’t get warm on Friday , every joint ached , felt completely fatigued , but couldn’t get any decent sleep/rest. Noticed my fingers a little swollen, wedding ring wouldn’t come off . This is still going on today Monday . I managed some farm chores but have no energy whatsoever and still ache everywhere with a very sensitive scalp . I had nstemi attack and quadruple bypass July 2023. Never knew about potential fibromyalgia being linked to post cardiac event ?

Good morning

Fibromyalgia can cause fatigue - I have been a sufferer for over 40 years! I had an AVR 6 years ago and can say that the effects of that plus the fibro have been difficult - not all the time, but some days are hard to get through. I just keep ploughing on. Best wishes

Hi, I have fibromyalgia (diagnosed 30 years ago) and have had 2 heart attacks caused by vasospasm. I was completely zonked after my last heart attack 2 years ago, but some of that was from going back onto statins which it's now been found I'm intolerant to. Both heart and fibromyalgia are exacerbated by stress, so yoga, walking, singing, good diet, writing a diary, spending time with good friends and family have helped reduce my stress. Try and take it easy mentally and physically - your body is telling you to rest, you've had a major system shock.

Hi I was exactly the same. Tired out on some of the most simple off tasks. You will also notice if you let yourself get too cold that will also tire you out.

Wishing you all the best x

My wife has had fibromyalgia for around 30 years, although fortunately doesn't have cardiac issues, and it's a right b**gger of a condition. Although there are no blood tests to diagnose it, there are indicators as to whether someone has it. It unfortunately falls between several disciplines so you might get referred to neurology or a pain clinic if you want to go further with a diagnosis. We always work on the basis it's better to know what you are dealing with than not!
