Dear Beli7,
Yes this could, very well, be Drug Related and perhaps a few 'Changes' CAN be made- to your Drug Regime...... in the Future. In the mean time, you have Bleeding Gums- for which I have a couple of suggestions.
Fairly strong, though Not so much it Hurts, Salt Solution- used frequently throughout the day. Corsodyl Mouth Water, that contains an antiseptic (of sorts), is another good idea- though continuous use can cause staining, of your teeth. Maybe change your Toothbrush, i use a 'Sonic' one, with three different Settings. (even maybe your toothpaste).
Beyond this, just 'be careful' Don't eat food that 'Challenges' your teeth too much..... unless you actually have a 'problem' DON'T use Dental Floss!
Do Consult your Dentist- if you can get an Appointment, that is- and Follow his/ her advice.
Good Luck Beli7.

Hi Bella,I have noticed exactly the same thing!! I had a HA 11 weeks ago and take aspirin, clopidogrel, bisoprolol and atorvastatin. I bought a sensorineural toothbrush but felt it wasn't cleaning my teeth properly. I find the corsodil mouthwash helps.
Bleeding gums can be a symptom of gingivitis, a form of gum disease. Gum disease is closely related to heart disease. In fact the relationship between gum disease and heart disease runs both ways, each can actually cause or exacerbate the other.
Yes, your medication is probably what's tipped your gums over the edge into bleeding, but it's possible that gum disease was the root cause, or one of the root causes, of your heart problems in the first place?
A discussion with your dentist is in order, certainly my dentist was very familiar with the gum disease/heart disease relationship and even though I didn't show any signs of gum disease recommended a much more stringent oral hygiene regime to follow at home in order to ensure it stayed that way.
Good luck!
Hi, I suffered with this and my dentist asked what I was taking. As soon as I got yo Amlodipine she said 'Thats the one!' Sent me to my GP to get it changed but GP had no knowledge of this side effect so refused. My dentist then contacted the GP herself and explained its well known side effect in dentistry. I came off Amlodipine - gums improved and bleeding ceased 👍🏽 Hope you can get it sorted asap.
There is a strong link between heart & teeth health apparently.
That's probably it,I have only recently started on Amplodipine a couple of months ago,I will ring my gp tomorrow & see what she says as my bleeding gums only started about a month ago & my dentist ruled out gum disease,so thought it had to be my meds, like my dentist had said.Thankyou for your reply, much appreciated.
Hello
When I first went on all my medications I had terrible bleeding gums as well as nose bleeds
Everything was fine though and I was told most likely the blood thinners were one of the culprits
It took quite a few months to settle down but seems to at the moment but saying that it no doubt will have a little bout now I have x
Thankyou,much appreciated.
