Morning all I was wondering if I can get some advice my friend phoned me the other night and I was telling her what meds I was on and she was telling her husband and he told me to stop taking meds because some of them can give you internal bleeding and can be dangerous and I told him the only time I will stop taking my meds is if Drs at hospital tell me too. I was wondering if this can be cause of bleeding when I go poo please can anybody advise me.

It can but seriously it is far more likely to be the innocent micro tears that can happen due to constipation than it is to be a bleeding ulcer. Where I would draw the distinction: if the bloods only visible when you wipe you are perfectly safe to continue. If your stools look black/ tarry or more than a drop if blood is in the toilet bowel you need to see a doctor.

Hello Hazeg - are you passing blood and if so is it bright red or a darker Reddy brown colour? or do you just notice blood on toilet paper? If you are on ticagrelor or clopidigrel they can cause some bleeding - if it's a small amount of bright red blood it's likely to be a small broken blood vessel same as you can get in the lining of nose. Very important not to stop medication Hazeg as you could then form a blood clot in an artery which is a serious condition. Consult your GP if it continues or you feel it's a change in bowel habits.

Hi Nathan53

Its only when I wipe myself I would not stop taking my meds as my family and myself went through enough when I had the 5 cardiac arrests and was in hospital for 8 days and I definitely am not going to put them through that again. I have been taking 75mg of aspirin also but that stopped yesterday as the Drs at hospital only gave me them for a month and the Clopidogrel I am on for a year but my other meds I am on for life. I really do appreciate your reply Nathan thank you so much has put my mind at rest quite a bit thank you again.

You should discuss it with your doctor.

Like prada47 says aspirin is normally given along with clopidigrel - it's known as dual platelet therapy. Query with GP just incase there has been an oversight.
