Heavy Bleeding

Hello Everyone. Hope you are all enjoying the Weekend 😊. I really don't want to sound too morbid in this Post and, if it does, I apologise. Anyway here goes - I am an Excessive Bleeder. After the birth of my two Sons, I haemorrhaged really badly. Also, had my Appendix out couple of years back and had severe bleeding. I've only got to nick my finger for example and it just bleeds and bleeds. Same goes for the Dentist and have a Tooth out. There is Hemophilia in the Family as well. I am going to ask the Consultant when I go soon as I am due for a Heart Op but am just wondering if anyone else has this. Many Thanks.

Definitely speak to your consultant about it

Be at least as open an honest as you are here

They want the best for you AND want as much routine surgical procedure as possible when the time comes

They can prepare for this on advance

I would write or e mail them with your history and concerns in advance so that these experiences don't delay your treatment path

Thank You Al. I am going to ask him but there are so many questions going round in my head lately and really don't want to be asking them too much you know. Feel a bit of a nuisance :(

Don’t feel that you are a nuisance, but hospital consultants are busy people so it is understandable that you want to make the best use of their time. Make a written note of all your questions to take with you. Also, is there someone else you could take with you? Two heads are better than one at remembering everything the consultant says. During the consultation, don’t concentrate on the next question you want to ask but listen carefully to what he says and ask relevant follow up questions to aid your understanding.

I hope this helps.

Thank you very much. That has helped. I do have a very good Friend coming with me and am making Notes of what I want to ask. She is better than me so she can ask away as much as she wants. In fact, I'll add what you have said to it later. Cheers 😊 PS: Added, just did it now. One Question at a time and take in properly lol.

You could also ask your consultant if they would mind if you recorded what they had to say on a smartphone app. I intended to do that when I last saw my cardiologist but my plan went awry when I was delayed at the pacemaker pacing clinic just beforehand and he came to visit me there. I totally forgot 😳.

Ha ha I know the feeling. As for recording, I posted that in the week. Pharmacist gave me that little tip. Phoned the Consultant 's Secretary and she thought it was a very good idea and she is going to ask him if he'll allow it. Will wait and see if she gets back to me!

It is hard to take it all in Urssy. Hope Consultant will give his permission to record. Hope you are feeling better too and thanks so much X

You can never be a nuisance

It is more a case of being a nuisance for NOT bringing it to their attention

Please remember this

No one wants to say or hear "I wish she had told us"
