I have been put on Bisoprolol for SVT. Started it 12 days ago at 2.5mg a day, then cardiologist increased it to 5mg a day 4 days ago.

I have never felt so ill in 52 years of having the SVT.

I have had 10 episodes of tachycardia since taking the Bisoprolol.

I cannot sleep, as it is so uncomfortable, like my heart is being squashed and it becomes very erratic.

I have had 2 hours broken sleep for the last 3 nights and I’m exhausted.

I emailed my cardiologist at St Thomas’ hospital a couple of days ago reporting the increase in palpitations and his reply was stick with it and if we need to increase to 7.5mg then 10mg we will do.

It’s making me feel worse.

I feel so anxious and really fed up.

Anyone else had the same experience?

Carol

This was around a year ago.

Back on Diltiazem and feeling much better.

Heart a lot calmer.

Hi Best2,I am presently on Diltiazen, switching from Verapimil & Bisoprolol before that. From what I remember the palpitations were worse for the first couple of weeks, now they have really calmed down. No really negative side effects, although I do find if my heart rate goes above 100bpm, I totally crash & have to stop what I’m doing until my heart rate reduces.

Hi Harnie Thankyou so much for replying I’m so glad your doing ok on Diltiazen only day 2 but I’m hopeful they will help with my ectopic beats!

I thought the Diltiazen was causing swollen ankles and weight gain so changed to Bisoprolol but it’s all much of a muchness. Even the Butenamide isn’t having much effect. Any ideas how I can lose 2 1/2 stone? GP said diet wouldn’t help because “that’s not fat, it’s fluid”! Hope you have more joyful results!

Hi violymay sorry to hear your struggling at the moment I’m hoping these Diltiazen tablets will work better for me than the bisoprolol but it all a case of trial and error I think 🤔 wishing you well
