That Phone Call

That was a long 48 hours, after having my op cancelled and told they would be in touch ASAP with a new date I have been willing the phone to ring. I have my new date 13th July so not to long a wait. The way I look at it is that it’s another 3 weeks of my super healthy diet and 21 walks to build up fitness so really it’s a bonus it was cancelled. Do I sound convincing 🤔 No,I thought not. Thanks to everyone who sent messages, they really help.

Good news about the alternative date.

I know how difficult it can be when your date gets bumped. It happened to me, it happened twice to a guy on the same ward as me, and someone on this forum was bumped four times and had their op on the fifth date!

But, we all get there in the end, and when you look back the odd delay won't matter one little bit!

Good Luck for the 13th July anyway. Not long to wait. I had mine cancelled last year for 5 months due to Covid. It's the worst part. You have the right attitude though!! 😀😃

I know how you feel, I had my first date cancelled the day I was due to go in, given a date two weeks later, same thing happened. Two weeks later I actually got into hospital for the night and had op cancelled in the morning, but they hope to do it in the afternoon. By tea time it was obvious I was not going to have my op that day and I was starving, having not had anything to eat since 10pm the night before. My surgeon eventually came and told me no op but they were definitely going to do it on the Monday and I could either stay in hospital until then or go home and come back on Sunday - this was on the Thursday so I went home. Had my surgery on the Monday morning. Although it was extremely frustrating and constantly mucking up things with my employers and my husband's employers, the way I looked at it was that at least I was in better position than the people who had taken my operating slots as an emergency. Hopefully your op will go ahead next time without any more delays, I know my situation was unusual as they did say it was very unusual to cancel someone so many times, just my luck!
