I have been on Bisoprolol for a few months .It has been suggested I may need to up the dose....I have been fuzzy in the head on high med doses.
Is there another med as an alterntaive?.Perhaps somethings docs are just now begin. to use.I have Afib. likely driven by leaky tricuspid valve and can only be treated with meds.I am going to ask my cardio. in July but thought it also worth asking here.

Yes, there are alternatives.1/ Ask about other betablockers, since individuals react differently to medications.
2/ Calcium channel blockers such as Diltiazem
3/ Digoxin
4/ Rarer drugs such as Sotolol
To complicate matters, some people also take Flecainide, either alone, or with a betablocker or calcium channel blocker.Sometimes it is not easy to find a medication that suits you, so you will need to give each one a good try and may have to compromise.
Hi, not sure if this is relevant to you but I was a zombie on 10 mgs of Bisoprolol but GP wouldn't lower the dose. He put me on a nitrate tablet as well and this seems to be helping.
Thank you but I think the Bisoprolol may be becoming less effective but if i have to up the dose it would be good to discuss the possibility of the nitrate tablet.
hi iv'e been on bisoprolol for 6 years following a heart attack, last year following a stay in hospital it was lowered, over the last year my health deteriorated and iv'e recently had another stay in the hospital, diagnosed with AF and heart failure bisoprolol has been increased and for me the higher dose is keep my blood pressure at bay. Im now on Eliquis 5mg x 2 daily along with my other meds. For me i feel more stable on bisoprolol and have to check blood pressure, sometimes i have to take a extra one to bring blood pressure down. Iv'e not had any experience with any other beta-blockers, hope you manage to get the help and advice you need to stabalise your health issues. take care.
I was proscribed 10mg of bisoprolol but I suffered no side effects I was aware of. I discovered that beta blockers work more efficiently when you take them before you sleep in the evening. I now cut the 10mg into 2 halves & take 1 in the morning & 1 in the evening before bed.
I got put on Proprolol as an alternative to Bisoprolol because they thought it was giving me pins and needles. But it wasn’t for me, it might work for you though! I’m sorry you’re feeling so icky
I was on 2.5 bisoprolol. My nose ran perpetually and I was constantly tired. After speaking to cardiologist, she put me on Ivabradine. Feel much more lively and no more snotty nose😃
