Bisoprolol alternatives?
Biso made me dizzy. Nebivolol, even though my resting heart rate is now 45, doesn't.
Hi Seaguller, Bisoprolol didn’t agree with me so now on Nebivolol, which I do not have side effects from. Hope you get sorted soon. J
I don't understand why or how it disagrees with anyone? I take 2.5 following AF in 2017, and I take it at night with the Edoxaban and have no issues.
I never understood people's comments about how medication disagreed with them until I had my heart attack. It took several months of changing medication until we found the right cocktail for me that left me free of indigestion, nausea and dizziness.
Hi John. How often were the meds reviewed before you got the right combination?
My GP did it one by one, the first step was upping my Omeprazole which had a marked effect, this was done about a month after my HA. Then a month later he changed my Atorvastatin for a lower dose Simvastatin, that made a big difference, about a month after that he dropped my Bisoprolol to 2.5mg a day. They are a very "proactive" surgery, within two days of getting home from hospital one of the GP's phoned me for a chat to see how I was. Since my HA I've had quarterly full blood checks and BP checks along with a medicine usage review.
Sorry, do you mean that it did not do what it was supposed to do (lower heart rate and therefore blood pressure, or that it disagreed with you?
I've been on max dose of bisoprolol for years. Works for me.
Ive been on Bisoprolol for a couple of years now, before that Pronanalol both proscribed as beta blockers for anxiety...in my opinion non of them work.....but I am continuing taking Bisoprolol as proventative measure for general heart health....good luck with your meds.
Well, I’m not too sure if bisoprolol is effective for all people with heart issues. If I think back to what dosage I started off at in Jun’19 & what I’m on at Dec’21 I do wonder. No alternative has ever been offered to me, but I know there’s a psychosomatic aspect to most drugs & afflictions.
A consultant has told me that none of the drugs I take will stop another heart based incident. Which on the one hand could be worrying but I chose to let it free me from worry.
Maybe the trick is to find one that works for you but never forget what’s between your ears is more powerful a drug than could ever be proscribed. Proving a negative is a very difficult thing to do though. Good luck!
