Was sitting watching tv last night felt pain in chest when I breath in deeply, and uncomfortable on moving, slightly to the left hand side of chest I can actually put a finger on the point that is painful, it feels like a rib rather than the heart.
Had a HA and stent fitted early last May and another stent fitted in February this year after suffering pains in chest, (nothing like this pain) this is more intense and the pain hasn’t spread anywhere else like previous heart problems, no feeling of doom and gloom like my previous episodes either.
Really reluctant to go to A&E would hate to waste the medics time, if it’s a just a strain.
If it was serious wouldn’t the pain have spread by now?

Call your GP, or failing that 111. Better to be a bit of a nuisance now than a major emergency later. Or do you have a cardio nurse keeping an eye on you?
I understand why you are reluctant to go back, (I have often said hospitals are no place for the sick), but cases are low at the moment. If you have had Covid, you should have some immunity. If it was me, I would phone someone to discuss my symptoms. Have you got one of those GTN sprays?
Hi... like most folk on here I have no medical qualifications whatsoever... but, you might ask your GP about Costochondritis... an inflammation of the muscles between the ribs, which can cause a sharp pain on inhalation. Just a thought 🙂
Was just going to say about costochondritis myself. I had it a few months ago and thought I was having a heart attack. It started one morning and I was fine again by evening.
I actually dialled 999 and two lovely lady paramedics came. One was able to press along the area of exactly where I was hurting and got me to do some resistance tests. She was able to tell me it was costochondritis. I felt really embarrassed, but she said I did the right thing by calling for help. Honestly those two paramedics were better than any GP or A&E.
Just word of caution non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs such as nurofen ( Ibuprofen) aren't usually recommended if you are a heart patient especially if you are taking antiplatelets or anticoagulants.
Check with your GP or Pharmacist which is the best pain relief medication to take.
I had been suffering with this sort of chest pain for a very long time and many trips to A&E, all the time being told that they have a lot of people with chest pains. Only recently a stroke consultant told me it was Condochondritis, I had never heard of this. they could have saved me a lot of suffering and many trips to A&E. I was prescribed Voltoral to rub on the pain, and a very low dose of Amythriptyline, which helped relaxing the muscles and helped with sleep also. I do feel better now knowing what it is, I feel if I get a little overtired it brings it on. Anyone gets it like this?
Thanks for your advice, glad to say pain has eased like you I had never heard of Condochondritis before but what I read about it were the classic symptoms i was suffering never felt like heart pain but the pain was intense at the time.
Thanks I read about Condochondritis and the pain I had was intense at the time but has eased considerably now it never felt like heart pain more musculoskeletal and yes when I touched or pressed on the top left of my ribs it was very sore. Really appreciate your advice and concern.
