Very cold with chest pain.

I'm in Australia, we are mid winter, sorry for all those struggling with the heat. Yesterday, I had chest pain and was extremely cold, I used my spray a couple of times and it settled. It just took me off guard, I wasn't exercising. I had my last stent end of February. It is unusual for me to feel the cold. My cardiologist changed a couple of medications at 6 week review after stent. Seeing gp in couple of days. Has anyone else had the shivers with chest pain? Take care. Moni

If your spray settled it then sounds like it could have been a little Angina

It could have been that it was just a coincidence you were feeling cold even if usual for you when you had the pain

I am pleased you are getting checked out in a couple of days and I have no clue how it works where you are but of course if you are in any doubt then I know you would go to the Hospital

Just wanted to update you, my gp said, I would continue with angina, which was disappointing, but can I really expect to be painfree? She said for my heart that I can't change Bisoprolol. She is very kind, so I just have to keep going. But I will note down any changes and if pain gets too hard, I will go to emergency. There are so many that deal with a variety of problems, having a kind person like you always helps. Take care. Moni

I am sorry the Doctor would not change your meds I am on some I do not like but I like you think if I have to take them then what else can I do

Since being on meds for AF I feel the cold more, and I'm more likely to get chest pain with an episode. If I have a bad episode one of my symptoms is shivering. It is continual but feels like it's coming in waves that are back to back.I have sort of attributed it to anxiety. It can be quite scary, so now I take my PIP and try to go to sleep.

The change in your medication may have made you more susceptible to the cold. Maybe something to discuss with your doctor if you can get to speak to him / her?

Keep warm... most of us up in this part of the world would love to share some of what's coming with you. I'm fit and well, but 40+ degrees is certainly not my kind of weather, regardless of heart issues. 😯

Hi Moni,

I can cope with the upper 30s in places like the Greek Islands, but here in the UK even 30 is too high because it is accompanied by high humidity. I think the electric fan will be in use over the coming days!

Hope you get your situation sorted. I'm a firm believer that medication is there to make us better, not give us additional problems.

Just a thought- I know when I’m anxious/frightened I get cold & shivery. When things are back to normal it settles.

Hi Moniren, yes I used to feel the same whenever I felt cold during British winters whilst on heart meds & also not on them. had an MI & 3 stents back in 2009, but I don’t have angina. If I recall correctly, I read that it is inportant for heart patients to NOT allow oneself to get too cold (especially to the point of shivering)! So, when not moving around/exercising, try to ensure your home is a comfortable temperature & if/when outside, dress warmly; a scarf over your mouth and nose also helps to stop cold air hitting your lungs/chest.Good luck with the Dr tomorrow and stay warm.. 🙏❤️

Thank you for your reply. I had a jacket and a blanket while sitting, I very rarely wear a jacket, even in winter, even though I've been on heart meds since 2011. But maybe its the change of medication done beginning March. Will see if I get it sorted tomorrow, I have an excellent gp, although my health issues do test her out. Take care. Moni
