I have been suffering from night time PVC 's for around five years. I have had every test under the sun incuding angiogrammes and calcium scoring, only to conclude that there is just normal wear and tear on my heart. However recently things have been getting worse and my heart rate ( I wear a wrist monitor band) jumps upto around 90 five or six times a night. My normal resting H/R in bed is around 55.
Does anybody know if this is "normal " for a PVC sufferer ? I worry that one day I just won't wake up ! I take Aspirin and Bisoprolol at night which seems to do nothing......... best regards

1. Heart rate naturally increases during REM sleep.
2. Heart rate can change with dreaming/nightmares. I rarely ever remember dreaming, but everyone dreams for a total of at least 2 hours most nights. We also dream outside of REM sleep.
3. I have quite a reactive heart rate, so turning over in my sleep elevates my rate by as much as 40bpm. It goes up quite suddenly, then gradually but reasonably quickly drops back down to somewhere between 30 and 50 depending on what stage of sleep I’m in.
If it went to 90 and stayed there for several minutes or more, I would flag it with a health professional, but - and bear in mind I’m not remotely medically qualified - it’s not something that strikes me as immediately concerning.
If all your tests are normal, then putting your watch back in it’s box might be sensible.
Hi, I am interested firstly in what watch it is as they can have errors. Secondly, do these higher heart rates wake you? do you drink alcohol of an evening or eat large meals late? I had a mild HA in May 2019 with a stent fitted now and fi ally as anxiety calms through time, Imange to sleep well unless I eat a large meal or heavy meal even as say 7pm on what I call treat weekend (such as easter) and have a couple of glasses of wine, my HR goes up I wke with a harder fatser beating heart. It scared me so much I thought I was going to have another heart attack but what I am told is that its the heart working harder to digest food and with alcohol, it relaxes the blood vessels and your heart works harder to compensate. so I go from a night time 45/50 up to 60/65 for a few hours between about 1.30 and 3.00am sorry I even know the timing, before it settles back. so just to consider other possible reasons.
