Too low diastolic Blood pressure

Hello,

I have hypertension and heart valve disease. My blood pressure with 5mg bisopril and 5 mg ramapril is around systolic often in the 130's and diastolic anything from 60 to 52. I am worried that the diastolic level is too low. My heart condition was diagnosed about 5 yrs ago with heart valve disease and hypertension.

Hi, do you have symptoms e.g. lightheaded when standing?

I have had low diastolic readings for a few months now ~80-90's/40-50's, I've had symptoms of lightheadedness to the point where I thought I might pass out. Cardiologist & GP are not concerned about the numbers as it is low due to the meds, not a heart issue. But need to sort it out because of symptoms. GP has been adjusting meds every few weeks, guided by Cardiologist to some degree, so far no real changes.

Speak to your GP to see what he/she says and to make sure they are aware of it.

I am on amlodipine and ramipril and my DBP can be as low as 50, the only symptom is occasional hypotension if I get up too enthusiastically, I am unconcerned about it.

My diastolic, especially on a morning is often around 60 to 62. My GP is totally unconcerned

Could I ask what your heart valve disease symptoms are?

Thank you

I have moderate aortic regurgitation, mild tricuspid & mitral regurgitation and an Ejection fraction of 49%. My systolic function is also impaired and signs of heart failure, This is from an echo that and cardiac CT I had 2 wks ago, when I was diagnosed with spesis treated as pneumonia. I am under a cardiologist for this, but due to improvement, he didn't want to see me for a few years for possible surgery. Now, the respiritory docs are referring me back to the cardiologist, as they think the sepsis has caused some changes (my ejection fraction had returned from 40% 5 yrs ago to 63% 3 yrs ago and the impairment of my lift ventrical had returned to normal.) I hope this makes sense to you, basically the cardiologist thought that my valve disease had been caused by a virus at some stage. I get no symptoms except I have to pace myself or I get too tired, this was diagnosed after a sudden breathing and coughing problem 5 years ago, but this makes little impact on most things.

Mine is something in that region too not all the time but doctor doesn’t seem worried about it. I notice you have had issues for 5 years and your still here think about that chances are you will be here in another 5 years and longer than that so enjoy life and all the good things in it. 👍😎

I think I am worried about it now as I have just come out of hospital after the second bout of pneumonia caused Sepsis for the 2nd time in six months and have had a recent echo and CT heat scan. The respiritory docs are sending referring me back to the cardiologist, but don't seem too worried, but the sepsis has shown up some things and so he's passing me back to cardology. I am quickly getting over the spepsis though, and hope it has gone for good!

If they have let you go home would not if they thought for one minute you were in immediate danger let you leave. Trust that they are going to do what’s best for you the fact they are re referring you back to the cardiologist may just be to confirm what they already know and as you probably know that is the procedure they have to work to it protects everyone. Including the patient.
